Isn't this getting a little bit out of hand now?

A man burned down his own home trying to prove to everyone how racist he is.

I don't believe in the supernatural, and so I don't believe in karma, but this certainly tempts me to believe in it.

Oh, I forgot to use a both sides argument.

Uhm, liberals are exactly as bad because we think Obama was born in Hawaii.

This is the price you pay for believing in magic.

I mean, unless he believes in magic, he would have to know that burning his shoes would have zero impact on anyone other than himself, right?

Nike don't give a flying fuck if you burn their shoes - once you have bought them, you can do with them whatever you like, and they won't even know about it, much less care about it.

Fucking idiot.

*clears throat*

HAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAA!

*breathes*

AAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA!!!!

I so hope that this is true. I'm going to be so pissed if it turns out this were insurance fraud or something.

The one thing I noticed about the website was it was USAToday.go.com.

A link to the story contains a URL address resembling USA Today's, but it does not take readers to the internationally distributed newspaper's website.

According to the fake story, 26-year-old Bartlesville man Jason Helms soaked a pair of Nike sneakers in kerosene in his garage before lighting them on fire and filming the act.

"The fire ended up spreading to the garage walls and ceiling before spreading to his actual home," the story reads. "Helms called 911 but by the time firefighters arrived they were unable to save his home."

I apologize. I saw this on DU and looked quickly at the url. I blame the Russians. ;)

Sooooo.....fake news?

Yupp.
Viral story claiming Bartlesville man caught his house on fire protesting Nike is a hoax, police say

That said, I think this is a bad decision by Nike. It's one thing to say he has the right to protest, quite another to hire him as a spokesman.

He has the right to protest (although not necessarily on the clock), but that is different than the merit of what he is protesting about, which is the bogus #BLM narrative: Michael Brown et al.

Hint: Nike don't give a shit; He's famous enough to help them to sell lots of shoes.

Nobody else gives a shit either; You're not.

He is controversial. How many people will not buy Nikes because they do not like his anti-police attitude? I certainly won't.

I am sure their marketing department are shitting their collective pants.

Unless, of course, they understand that yours is a very small minority view, and that the old adage 'There's no such thing as bad publicity' has just saved them literally millions of dollars by getting people to distribute awareness of their brand on social media free, gratis, and for nothing.

Actually you'd be doing Nike a great favor if you didn't buy their shoes. They are targeting younger and hipper who are willing to spend a premium on shoes. They want to be the cool brand. They'd prefer that you go back to those Walmart Velcro shoes.
