We can either a) deliberately refrain from bringing our experience to bear on the transpiring events and make judgements based only on the available reported evidence-gathered facts or b) use the swag method (scientific wild ass guess) and jump to conclusions about the who's, what's, and why's.

Some of us aren't good guessers, and some of us (strangely enough) somehow manage to speak the truth without knowing the truth--it must be from the luck of getting a hit amidst the misses.

Either way, speak your mind.

I'll start.

Three police officers have lost their lives at the hands of at least one shooter.

(Yeah, I went with choice a)

Police believe that there is more than one suspect involved. 3 dead, 3 wounded, 1 suspect down. (MSNBC)

There is a strong chance that a forth officer in critical condition may not pull through.

Paraphrased don lemon (CNN)

Damn! Not again!
Have they identified the dead perp?
Also Baton Rouge police has arrested some people (including a 12 year old!) in connection to another plot to kill police.

Boy, 12, Arrested in Connection With Alleged Plot to Kill Louisiana Cops
The scientific guess about the shooting is not that wild-ass really.

Not that I'm aware of. I don't know for sure but haven't seen it yet on MSNBC or CNN.

The last report I heard from someone who was on the scene said, some kind of robbery was in progress. When police showed up, a gunfight ensued. Three police dead, more injured.

There was a plot to shoot and kill police. Then later, police was shot and killed. There is no evidence to link one to the other. Some might say you're using common sense to make the link, so I guess (or is it a guess?), you went with b.

That is a very different type of even then. But a robbery that close to a police station is unwise.

This story is clearly false, since we all know there is very little danger in being a cop and they have nothing to fear and no basis to approach suspects as though they are a plausible lethal threat.

So sad to hear this! Glad people are calling out to STOP VIOLENCE, hope the message is heard fast.

There are things to fear from people walking around brandishing guns.

Not much to fear from somebody pinned to the concrete.

I'm not prepared to take the burglary/cop killer story at face value. The pawnshop in question is less than a block from where I live. It has all the security systems one would expect in a building filled with pistols and rifles. It's built like a fortress, so I'm curious to learn how they got inside.

The only information released about this conspiracy was a statement from a 17 year old who was arrested near the store. Somehow, he was connected to the burglary, and is supposed to have said, 'we wanted to shoot police.' It strains credulity.

Why would a burglary suspect say the one thing he knew would cause more trouble than anything else, unless that is all he wanted to do?

The story was released after the incident where armored BRPD officers ordered people off the street and then chased them into residential yards and dragged people out of the shrubbery to arrest them. They justified the action at the time by claiming the crowd was throwing objects at them. Of the several hundred videos of the scene, no one has produced a film of anything being thrown.

The burglary story was released after the credibility of stone throwing story was questioned.

I was thinking the same thing.

The shooter was Gavin Eugene Long, 29 of Kansas City. It is his birthday.
