Do you even know what a chain of fucking custody is? A chain of custody is a log of who had what, when they had it, and where they had it.
When a party with conflicted interest enters the chain of custody prior to a discovery, the chain of custody on that discovery is considered suspect. When there are gaps in the chain, those gaps may constitute invalidation of any evidence discovered.
Without a valid chain of custody -- one which cannot possibly include Rudy Giuliani -- any evidence gleaned from it is at best suspect.
There is simply no story there any more than there is a story in the wallet that I picked up off the street with an ID in it that says it belongs to a guy named Donald containing five coupons for "hamberders" written in a sharpie, and a paper that says "5:00: meat with Jog Oon for Nukleeer Seekrits hand over".
I am aware what that means. I'm also aware that the FBI has had the laptop since 2019.

It doesn't matter who had it after Giuliani.
Giuliani had it before anyone else and Giuliani has a conflict of interest.
Giuliani tainted the chain of custody irrevocably.
Making any kind of statement of fact about an object whose chain of custody is that broken that early is slanderous and/or libellous.

See, the right is upset about Hunter Biden in general because he did well in life thanks to having a well known father. "The Big Guy" never hired him, but hey...nepotism is bad, right?
They're also mad at him because he made some money in a questionable business deal in Ukraine.
They're specifically upset about the laptop because it allegedly has pornography and evidence that he did coke and banged hookers.
This is all very bad stuff.
Now, contrast that with the moral and upstanding former President.
He is a "self-made man" who only got a small (million dollar) leg-up in the real estate business from his wealthy

It's a non-story as the evidence is most likely tampered with.

I do not doubt it's a copy of his laptop--the question is whether it was tampered with after it was made. That's why the chain of custody matters. Once that chain is broken it doesn't matter if you can prove the evidence is what you say it is, you can't prove it wasn't tampered with.
