BREAK: Time for a funnie: That kill me now moment when...

But the BEST is when the wife loads the dishwasher and has just one more dish that just won't fit.
And she asks if you can fit it in, somehow.
Then you go over and look things over. Then take pans and plates out.
And say, "Lemmee show you how to load a dishwasher."

That's hilarious.

Actually, seeing as I do the cooking, when we get the dishwasher installed in the new kitchen, the DBF will be loading the dishwasher. :D

Until then, it's me doing the dishes in the bathroom in a basin bit by bit. :(

LOL. That happens here a LOT.
Dear husband has learned that when one says stuff like that, or, "wow, you mow the lawn like a drunken sailor," one gets lots of new chores all to himself.

Ours is a long slow process. It started just over 3 weeks ago. Bob the builder was going on leave at the end of May so we needed to rip out the old kitchen to make way for the new kitchen as we were having a wall put back in. That was on the 19th of May. The 22nd saw the plumber come in and put in the pipework. The 23rd saw the plaster come in. Then we painted the new wall ready for the cabinets to go in from the 29th May to the 5th June. The stone guy measured up on the 2nd June and we were told 10 working days till the stone is delivered. Once that happens, the final cabinets can go in (overhead cupboard, microwave shelf and appliance cabinet) as they sit on the stone benchtop. THEN the electrician and plumber can come along and do most of their bit. Then the glass guy can come and measure up and about 2 weeks after that we should see it finished. So we are looking at about another 3 weeks of waiting.

Our kitchen remodelling took all summer (middle of may to beginning of September), so we washed dishes in the small downstairs bathroom sink during that time. Of course, I grilled a lot in order to minimize the items to wash.

3 1/2 months? Holy crap on a cracker! I thought about 2 months was bad enough.

We have a few meals that are frozen. We have kept out 4 dinner plates, 4 small plates, the cutlery and major utensil drawers, a few bowls and a couple of chopping boards, a large saucepan, a colander and that is about it. We have a 100000BTU burner for cooking pasta, the DBF made a whole heap of spag bol sauce (of which I think we have 3 or 4 left), an electric frying pan and a sandwich/jaffle maker. We are eating a lot of stirfries, toasted sandwiches, reheated stews and spag bog. We occasionally have a full dinner, seared steak in the frying pan and microwaved veg, but that's about it. The BBQ we have is a wood burning one and it's not really economical to fire it up every day for a meal. Everything else is in a multitude of boxes in the end spare bedroom and the main guest room.

Twenty years ago I suggested that overlapping spirals emanating from each of the trees looked a little strange. No one has ever mowed the lawn but me since.

We're both engineers, but he's more compulsive than I am. I do quick cost-benefit analyses and rapidly conclude that rearranging the dishes will get in the way of my lifestyle. And I leave that one dish in the sink for tomorrow.

And head out to the club with Athena.
