I "kinda like" her as a person and for her anti-war stances, but, yes, most of her positions are too far left or just crazy for my tastes. Like the $50/hr minimum wage she proposed in a recent CA Senator debate. WTF? That would absolutely destroy so many small, already struggling businesses and put a lot of people out of work. I think she will be in over her head in trying to manage a big city that's already a big mess. A mayor is a much different job than being a state legislator or a Congresswoman.I kinda like Barbara Lee, but I don't think she is the right person to make tough decsions and turn Oakland around.
Really?! I remember when she was running for governor and she was in the debate. She's another progressive lunatic. And at 78, she should be retired by now. Where are the young people?
That’s the trouble with Newsom and his ilk. They think California is a nation state, outside of federal laws. That secession referendum can't come soon enough, this country has nothing to offer us to compensate for what it takes; we're a colony to them, not a state.
That's a fucking joke, we haven't broken any federal laws. Whereas if Trump hasn't broken a law before his first mcmuffin, usually specifically so as to attack California somehow, it's a rare day. If they want us to stay in the "Union" they should withdraw their illegally deployed troops. Fuck these people. That’s the trouble with Newsom and his ilk. I’m sure Tswizzle will let you know specifically which federal laws were broken by Newsom. He and his ilk are completely reliable that way in backing up their well thought out arguments. That's a fucking joke, we haven't broken any federal laws. Every person that has run in the General Election for President as a Democrat has been "the most Liberal candidate ever".Also, Newsom is adamantly anti-secession. Presumably because he still thinks the White House is an option. It's so funny how Republicans think this centrist, authoritarian moron is somehow an icon of the radical Left.
Doesn't stop Newsom and his ilk trying. That's a fucking joke, we haven't broken any federal laws.

The city of Cudahy responded on Tuesday after a video circulating online appears to show Vice Mayor Cynthia Gonzalez calling on gangs to defend their neighborhoods against immigration agents.
“I want to know where all the cholos are at in Los Angeles -- 18th Street, Florencia,” Gonzalez appears to say in the video. “Where’s the leadership at? Because you guys are all about territory and this is 18th Street, this is Florencia. You guys tag everything up, claiming hood and now that your hood’s being invaded by the biggest gang there is, there ain’t a peep out of you.”
The California Assembly's Democratic leaders on Tuesday refused to comment after they allowed the state's first openly gay Republican member to be repeatedly and randomly interrupted while lawmakers discussed Pride month. Republican Assemblymember Carl DeMaio on Monday was interrupted by Assembly Speaker Pro Tempore Josh Lowenthal, D-Long Beach, for birthday announcements three times during the discussion of a Pride month Demario said he opposed some of provisions on transgender issues that he argued were “inflammatory" and "dishonest."
As he spoke about what he called "extremist policy positions," Lowenthal, D-Long Beach, called for DeMaio’s time to be held. “Sorry, I have a very important announcement today,” he said. “Mr. Juan Carrillo, I understand it's your birthday today. Members, will you join me in wishing Mr. Carrillo a very happy birthday today? Wishing you many happy returns, Mr. Carrillo. Enjoy your day.” then continued his remarks but was soon interrupted again.

California Governor Gavin Newsom has filed a $787 million defamation lawsuit against Fox News, alleging the network intentionally misled viewers during immigration enforcement protests in California. The lawsuit, filed on Friday (June 27) in a Delaware federal court, claims Fox News reporters and hosts distorted comments made by President Donald Trump to suggest Newsom lied about their communication during the events.
The filing references Fox's previous $787 million settlement with Dominion Voting Systems in 2023, which involved false claims about the 2020 election. Newsom stated, "If Fox News wants to lie to the American people on Donald Trump's behalf, it should face consequences—just like it did in the Dominion case." He emphasized the importance of truthful information from major news outlets.
Fox News dismissed the lawsuit as "frivolous," with a spokesperson stating it was a "transparent publicity stunt" aimed at chilling free speech. The lawsuit specifically targets Fox host Jesse Watters and reporter John Roberts, accusing them of editing a video to falsely portray Newsom as lying about a phone call with Trump on June 7. Newsom contends that he last spoke with Trump on that date, and the conversation did not include discussions about the protests or the deployment of the National Guard.
Newsom's lawyers argue that the incident meets the legal standard for defamation and potentially harms his political standing. They also claim it violates California's Unfair Competition Law, which prohibits deceptive business practices. Newsom is pursuing the lawsuit as an individual, not in his official capacity as governor.
California Governor Gavin Newsom on Thursday vowed to fight the "illegal" move by President Donald Trump's administration to cancel some $4 billion in federal grants for the state's ambitious but much-delayed high-speed rail project.
A lawsuit challenging the cancellation as an "arbitrary and capricious" abuse of authority was filed on Thursday at the U.S. District Court in Los Angeles by the California High Speed Rail Authority, which oversees the project.
Sacramento Taxpayers are paying for a “Mobile Veterinary Clinic” for Homeless Drug addicts’ and street people’s pets. The City of Sacramento has decided that rather than pay for drug and mental health treatment for homeless drug addicts, they will use taxpayer funds to vaccinate and spay/neuter the pets of the City’s homeless.
California does a lot of boneheaded things, but this strikes me as a pretty good thing. That’s right, the junkies and mental patients in Sacramento will have free vet treatments for their dogs.
For many politicians, the prospect of an all-but-guaranteed electoral win is irresistible. Historically, this has meant that even arcane, unglamorous roles such as that of California insurance commissioner are highly sought after — not necessarily because of the job itself, but because they’re seen as safe vehicles for political posturing and steppingstones to higher office.
If they want to be the true anti-Newsom, however, they should be honest about their ambitions. Are they running for governor because they truly want to buckle down and solve California’s problems? Or are they running because they have their eye on more power and a higher office?
If it’s the latter, they should follow Harris’ lead and stay out of the race.
Fancy that, for the first time ever she made a good decision. Thank goodness. If she was on the ballot the idiots here would have voted her in. I can only hope that she makes a run for the presidential nomination. Her and Newsom on the same stage is going to be epic, comedy gold.Kamala Harris decided she doesn't want to run this particular asylum.
