California Doing California Things

The San Diego County Board of Supervisors voted to expand immigrant legal defense and increase know your rights resources in partnership with the Mexican Consulate. The Mexican Consulate will formalize the partnership soon. In a statement, the consulate said in part: "The Memorandum of Understanding, currently under negotiation, aims to generate an effective synergy with the County of San Diego to facilitate access to reliable information on assistance and preventive protection to more Mexican Nationals."

In other words, tax dollars are going to be given to attorneys so illegal aliens can get legal representation when it comes to deportation. Obviously Mexico doesn't want these people.

California doing California shit.
Informing someone of what their legal rights are is not illegal.

Don't you guys usually pretend not to oppose legal immigration, at least of non-Muslims? Why would you not want people to have information about the legal process of becoming a citizen?

FTFY.

Not everyone who doesn't want to be deported is an "illegal alien".

You, I presume, don't want to be deported, and would seek legal protection if ICE were to threaten to deport you on grounds that you believed to be unlawful.

Let me guess; You fondly imagine that it could never happen to you.

Just because you're pretensing to be too knuckle-draggingly stupid to know the difference between conservatives and liberals in an era ehen those poles have never been farther apart, doesn't mean I'm obliged to play along.

That's exactly what your post is about. Bitching about a "know your rights" campaign.

Animal advocates say dogs living on downtown Los Angeles’ Skid Row are living in filth and are being abused and neglected. Local rescuers say animals are being denied medical care, even after advocates have repeatedly gone before City Council seeking help. And they say nothing is changing.
The day KTLA was on Skid Row for this story, a dog was found tied up in the sun, unattended and desperately in need of water.

Tuccio said a homeless woman had 11 dogs and cats confined to four cages. In another case, rescuers helped a dog with severe injuries to one eye and a leg. The leg was so badly injured that it later required extensive treatment. The man caring for that dog was severely on drugs and was seen trying to dissect the leg with tweezers, Tuccio said. Parker says puppies are being sold on the street. Others are left for dead, thrown away like trash. Some animals, he says, are even being used to test drugs to make sure substances are not laced with fentanyl.

WELL, look who's crawling back in shame to the Golden State!

A few years back, Bed Bath and Beyond made big headlines bashing California's supposedly totalitarian regulatory environment and insisting that post-bankruptcy, they would be doing businesses in every US state except for evil, evil California, the state that gave them their start as well as the majority of their remaining business. Tswizzle, of course, bought that line hook line and sinker.

California has "created one of the most overregulated, expensive, and risky environments for businesses in America,” cried their CEO, Marcus Limonis, making “harder to employ people, harder to keep doors open, and harder to deliver value to customers.”

This week, that same CEO has proudly announced their glorious return to the state and the opening of 12 new locations, as well as the acquisition of another California chain, The Container Store. Turns out the state wasn't the problem, they are just bad at business. I hope they all go bust, we're flush with bottom-feeders anyway! Everyone wants what we got, but not everyone has what it takes to stay in the game. (I am sad they'll probably take the Container Store down with them though. Morons.)

Well, now that we know that homelessness is a hazard to dogs, we must take steps to find homes for their dogs.

I wonder if these same LA City Council members went apoplectic when hearing what Kristi Noem did to her dog. My magic 8 ball says, "Seems likely".

Mayor Bass Homeless Program has reduced homelessness by 14.5%. That equals thousands who are no longer living on the streets.

That still leaves 6/7 of the homeless population passing out drunk on Swiz’s doorstep. Poor guy. He should learn to enjoy eating dog.

We elect Republicans here? I learn something new about my state every day.

Political party strength in California

The mayors of our two big cities, San Francisco and Los Angelos have long been Democrat held. LA since 2001, SF since 1964, back when I was shitting in my diapers!

Nobody missed them. The thing these companies don't like about California is not just the overregulation, but the competition. Any one business leaving the state will not be noticed because the space will be filled before that business leaves the state.

It's a big state with a lot of money. The margins are lower but that's made up for with quantity.

It's somewhat similar the post last week about K&B leaving the state. They didn't really leave, they just moved their HQ to Arizona. Meanwhile all the land they own and homes they sell will still be here. If they decided to not build in California, they'd hit bankruptcy at light speed.

The state is severely over regulated and a lot things need changing, but that doesn't mean there's not big money.
