The good that comes out of it is based on the victim's mentality and strength.
Ah. Well, that's more rational than previously, when you attributed it to gods. So it's all on us as individuals, never mind god.
Some people get raped and they commit suicide. Some people get raped and they turn into Oprah. That is just the way it is.
"Just the way it is" is kind of fatalistic, maybe even nihilistic.
But if you believe in an omnipotent skybeast, then it's not 'just that way.' That's the way it is because that's how your all-knowing, all-powerful God must WANT it to be.
Else he could stop the rapes that would lead to suicide. Unless he's somehow using the suicide of the rape victim to pry something 'good' out of someone devastated by that death... Agnes rapes Jim, who suicides with football pump, which spurs Marie to become an anti-football activist, which causes boycotts and more people go to Church on Sundays...
But if you think in THAT manner, if you really do think that God can use bad things for good effect, then you have no fucking reason to object to ANYTHING. Because maybe God's allowing the democrats or muslims or illegal immigrants to do something that'll turn out good in the end. If that's really how you think.
Personally, I think it's a shallow, sociopathic effort to rationalize your belief in a god whose effect on life is equal to that of an imaginary friend, so you're just a hypocrite. But there we are.
