Donnie (camera) confronts his fear of accidentally catching death in his photography.
Desmond (red shirt) confronts his need to be helpful, staying too far back to be of any assistance if someone takes a header.

Del (baby) confronts nothing, but the therapists ensure that Del, with parents who will listen to any crackpot scheme from a PhD, will be in some form of therapy for the rest of their life, increasing job security.
