HANOI: The Vietnamese province of Thanh Hoa has suspended the use of a Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine batch after more than 120 students were hospitalised following their inoculation.


The central province started vaccinating children aged 15 to 17 years with the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine since Nov 30.


According to a Vn Express news report, the provincial Center for Disease Control (CDC) said that as of Thursday, over 120 children were admitted to hospitals after showing symptoms like nausea, high fever or breathing difficulties,


Seventeen of them had severe reactions, but have been stabilised and are being monitored closely.

A 9th grader in the northern province of Phu Tho died Tuesday after getting her second Pfizer vaccine dose, the local medical center said Thursday.
The girl had her first Pfizer dose on December 3, 2021, after which she experienced dizziness and had difficulty breathing. She was taken to the Ha Hoa District medical center for treatment and later recovered.
She had her second dose last Monday. Her mother had told health workers about the girl's side effects following her first shot, but they asked her to get the second shot anyway. Twenty minutes following the second shot, the girl experienced tightness in her chest, dizziness, difficulty in breathing and seizures.
She received emergency treatment on the spot before being transferred to the Ha Hoa District medical center. On arrival, she began to vomit blood, fell into a coma and her heart stopped. Her family received news that she died Tuesday morning.
The Phu Tho Department of Health has not officially confirmed the cause of death yet.

In mid-December, a number of newspapers in Vietnam reported that some batches of Pfizer vaccines were "expanded" by three months beyond the expiry date printed on the manufacturer's label. However, to date, it is not clear whether the batches of Pfizer vaccine being administered in many provinces are among these.

Five people who work in Twin Towers spoke to us on the condition they not be named because of fear of retaliation. Some said they were concerned deputies would fail to provide them security if they found out they had spoken with us.

My SIL was a prison nurse for a short time. She said the guards implied to her that they would not be availble to protect her if she wasn't "Nice to them".

Everything that I've read states that it's 50-50 right now that either COVID started naturally (transfer from a bat in the food markets) or was made in a lab and accidently released. The odds of getting it figured out is next to nil. China won't cooperate. So, what's the use? You just want another reason to dislike China or something?

As a hypothetical (which I am NOT asserting is true) let's say that it was proven that it was a lab leak either from WIV or a Chinese military lab. Also it was shown that there were active and lucrative IP rights involved as a motivating factor. Finally let's assume that the vaccines are really very good, which they mostly have been until omicron - but even previous infection is not so good against omicron.

So up until Omicron there was the feeling that maybe it is possible that "I have to get this admittedly effective vaccine because these arrogant and greedy bastards acted like gods?!?"

That is a nasty feeling to have to carry around. But if it is what happened there is no other choice.
