Covid-19 miscellany

Thanks for pointing out that not all stupid anti-vaxers
So, 'anti-vax' includes people who are not in any way anti-vax, just anti vaccine mandate?
To not understand how being against being against the only policy that can apparently make vaccination effective is "anti-vax" is about as likely as you think a kid espousing a view that you dislike is

That is one of the most disingenuous bullshit statements from the anti-vax movement. Vaccines work because they are mandated for fuck sakes. HERD FUCKING IMMUNITY! This isn't Shingles!

Okay. "Vaccines work because they are mandated".

That means vaccines don't work. What a strange thing for you to say. I believe vaccines work, that's why I got one.

I don't mandate that the government enforce people brushing their teeth. I guess I'm an anti-brusher.

The three top epidemiological authorities in the U.S. are Anthony Fauci, Donald Trump and Alex Jones and, although all three have been vaccinated, two out of 3 do NOT support MANDATORY vaccinations.
Mandatory vaccinations are a political decision, not a medical decision.
Mandatory vaccinations are a political decision not a medical decision in the same sense that having standards for clean drinking water in any municipality is a political decision and not a medical one.
Well, yes, they are both political decisions, rightfully made by politicians who are elected by the community which the political decision will apply to.

Of course, different communities might want and need different standards for drinking water and raising or lowering those standards usually does not involve forcing medical procedures on unconsenting adults.
So, you are against fluoridated water when instituted by govt.
No. I did not say that and nothing I said implies it.
It may not be the case in Australia but in the US, some people do oppose fluoridation of water because they believe it causes adverse medical side effects. In effect, some believe that fluoridation constitutes forcing people to ingest a substance for spurious medical benefits.

I know about water flouridation controversies. But nobody is forced to use town water untreated. The government does not prevent you from de-flouridating your water.

And also, if a certain town decided that it did not want to flouridate its water, that forces nothing on anybody either. People could flouridate their own if they really wanted to.

If you not brushing your teeth were likely enough to lead to other people dying, I would absolutely consider you an "anti-brusher" and view you exactly how I view you for being "anti-vax".

That’s absolutely untrue: if your only water supply is the fluoridated town water, then yes, you are forced to use it. One cannot simply decide to sink a well in one’s own backyard, even if you have a back yard. And if you cannot afford to purchase copious amounts of non-fluoridated water to drink, cook abs wash dishes, clothing and bodies, etc. with, then you are pretty well forced to us fluoridated water. The same thing with moving: It’s expensive to move and not within everybody’s reach. One may be unable to escape fluoridation.

One cannot simply fluoridate your tap water, either. One can us a fluoridated toothpaste but that’s about it for choices at the disposal of most people.

Wow.
Just … wow.
No wonder RW extremists are so easily manipulable by their handlers. Sincere belief in the truth content of absolute absurdities like the above “that means” statement cannot be assailed by logic, facts or even emotional sway.
How massive atrocities happen. Both my parents were in WWII, my father was in WW1 as well. They tried to tell me how otherwise perfectly normal Germans became just fine with wholesale ethnic cleansing massacre, and I couldn’t quite figure it out. But it has certainly come clear in the last five years.

I'm the one advocating against the government forcing medical procedures on her citizens and you have the hide to bring up Nazis.

Just...fucking...wow.

Removing flouridation from your drinking water is entirely possible.

But, for about the umpteenth time, a government forcing medical procedures on unconsenting citizens for the sole benefit of other people is not the same as a town deciding what to do with town water.

Yeah, sure. Nazis broke down doors and gave life-saving medical treatment to people.

You want to do that. You want to break down doors and force medical procedures on unconsenting citizens, for the benefit of other people.

Nope it’s not possible in a meaningful way to just remove fluoridation from your city water supply. You can remove fluoridation from drinking water IF you have access to abs can afford the right filtration system and only use that water for drinking. That’s much more difficult to do if you don’t have enough money.

Fluoridation if the water supply is indeed a medical treatment and one that it is diffucukt to escape if you don’t have a lot of money.

Gavin Newson is such an ass;

California Governor Gavin Newsom claims he was 'very judicious' and only took his face mask off during Sunday's NFC Championship game for a photo op with basketball legend Earvin 'Magic' Johnson. 'I was very judicious yesterday, very judicious' Newsom said during a press conference Monday. 'You'll see in the photo I did take, where Magic was kind enough, generous enough to ask me for a photograph - in my left hand's the mask, and I took a photo. The rest of the time I wore it, as we all should.' He also reminded citizens to continue wearing their masks to prevent further spread of COVID-19, saying: 'I encourage everyone else to do so.'

Daily Mail

Newsom can fuck right off.

He can kiss Darwin's ass now.
He was a hero on Fox News and interviewed twice, once by Laura Ingraham. His death has not been mentioned once by the network.

Keep it up, Fox News. Killing your own viewers.

The 'bad' is having ineffective vaccines passed off to patients as effective. It gives them a very false sense of protection and makes them vulnerable to infection. That's the BAD.
The report is direct harm from the vaccines, not merely non-protection.

Okay. "Vaccines work because they are mandated".

Places with higher vaccination rates have lower case fatality rates. Whether that vaccination rate comes from personal choice or vaccine mandates doesn't change this.

And also, if a certain town decided that it did not want to flouridate its water, that forces nothing on anybody either. People could flouridate their own if they really wanted to.
That wouldn't be a good idea--the proper levels are very small, not something that the average person should be playing with.

You can remove it with a reverse osmosis filter. They're very common here because of the high mineral content of the water--the last time I measured it our mineral content was at about 99% of the EPA limits. (I'm sure the water company is removing some to bring it below the legal limit.) While removing fluoride isn't why people around here buy such filters they do have that effect.
