Day without stupid: redux

As parts of the western United States (the southwest in particular) settle in for a "heat dome" over the next several days, I heard on the radio that former President Don Pornleone will be having a rally this weekend in Las Vegas.

An outdoor rally. At noon. It will be in the triple digits by then. Probably somewhere around 102 to 105. What we here in the Phoenix area call "warm." However, for an overweight 77 year old man who "hydrates" with Diet Coke and will probably insist on wearing a suit?

Let's just say I'm hoping for the best. For everyone.
Thoughts and prayers.

Fuck thoughts and prayers. I want causality and science to win this time.

There will be around 30K Deadheads in town for the Dead and Company concerts at the Sphere. Maybe they'll slip that 77 year old some blotter. Of course it'd be hard to tell if that 77 year old is tripping or not. He already talks crazy.

I must admit, the thought of Fragilego Mussolini struggling with heat stroke while tripping on acid sounds like fun, but what would he hallucinate? A world where he's still President and women in their 20s and 30s find him attractive? He's already got that going.

Is LSD readily available a Dead concerts? I haven't had it in many years but it was great fun when I did.

Definitely. Way back to the Acid tests and Owsley Stanley. I haven't tried it in over 40 years but it's always available when the Dead come to town. Las Vegas will have a lot of tripping people this summer cuz the Dead are in residence at the Sphere from May 17 through at least August 10. Three shows a week.

That sounds like a "good" combination.

And the heat advisory has been extended through Saturday. Forecast is 108.

Plenty of water (not a caffeinated product!) and dress reasonably and it's simply unpleasant.

Don't respect it and it can rapidly turn lethal--the desert occasionally claims a tourist. Get beyond the first ring of mountains around the city and you probably have no cell service. By the time someone reports you as missing you're probably dead.

I heard 109.
That's what it is right now, not sure where the weather station is but it must be somewhere down on the valley floor. But the whole Las Vegas Strip is down on the valley floor. (I'm almost 600' above it, that's enough to make a bit of difference.)

Nah, he's definitely not that old.

I'm thinking back to 4 years ago when I was outside cleaning up a fuel spill at the grocery store gas station where I was working. I'd gotten pretty used to doing stuff outside, and that day there was a bit of a breeze, I was in the shade, and for a moment I thought "you know, this isn't so bad." I looked down at my phone to check the temperature.

It was 117.

I'm just saying...

Is there anything accurate in that Xhit? Other than the death penalty part?

What do you mean? You don’t remember how after the Americans lost the revolutionary war the king of England brought the founders all back and put them on trial for felonies? What kind of history class were you taking???

Exactly. Especially not in the sun and not prolonged it's actually not all that horrible to those of us used to it. (I'm not down in your area but 117 isn't unheard of here.) Until your body runs out of sweat, then it rapidly goes to very dangerous.

Convicted of what? They weren't brought to trial. They would certainly have faced the death penalty if convicted.
Treason doth never prosper. What’s the reason?
Why, if it prosper, none dare call it treason.

The constitution was written in 1787 and ratified in 1788. None of the signers were convicted felons. And comparing the founding fathers to a guy who banged a porn star while his wife was pregnant. paying her off to keep quiet, then lying about it on official documents is idiocy.

Trump cut the rally short, but not before going on a rant about (maybe?) what would happen if you had an electric powered boat and it would be dangerous because...sharks. Anyway, he did mention the heat. When he was in AZ, 11 people collapsed at his rally, and from what I understand one also was overcome by the heat in Vegas. His thoughts?

“They never mention me. I’m up here sweating like a dog,” he said. “[The] Secret Service said we have to make sure everyone is safe. I said, ‘What about me?’ We never thought of that. They don’t think about me. I’m working my ass off. I’m working hard.”
