As parts of the western United States (the southwest in particular) settle in for a "heat dome" over the next several days, I heard on the radio that former President Don Pornleone will be having a rally this weekend in Las Vegas.
An outdoor rally. At noon. It will be in the triple digits by then. Probably somewhere around 102 to 105. What we here in the Phoenix area call "warm." However, for an overweight 77 year old man who "hydrates" with Diet Coke and will probably insist on wearing a suit?
Let's just say I'm hoping for the best. For everyone.
That sounds like a "good" combination.
And the heat advisory has been extended through Saturday. Forecast is 108.
Plenty of water (not a caffeinated product!) and dress reasonably and it's simply unpleasant.
I'm thinking back to 4 years ago when I was outside cleaning up a fuel spill at the grocery store gas station where I was working. I'd gotten pretty used to doing stuff outside, and that day there was a bit of a breeze, I was in the shade, and for a moment I thought "you know, this isn't so bad." I looked down at my phone to check the temperature.
It was 117.
I'm just saying...
