Dem Post Mortem

Well, at least my husband and I got out. Maybe Europe isn't far enough?

Good luck. Things will get bad.

I am worried as hell about Minneapolis and Minnesota, since they're an outlier in the Midwest, Chicago is too big to do anything to, and Walz's opposition of Trump was fairly "personal", and I see a reprisal coming.

I would expect nationalization of militias into the federal government by some mechanism, and then deployment of those units to Minneapolis to "quell remaining unrest following the George Floyd riots"* and later pivot "to act as a reminder of federal jurisdiction"*. This will cause actual unrest and create an excuse to turn it into the shit hole the GOP noise machine claimed it was, and scaring Illinois and Michigan "into line".

This would probably trigger northeastern and west coast attempts at exiting the union, but this would end the era of the US being an established power, and enable an expansionist theocracy across most of the US, and control over the Midwest, a global bread basket region.

If I was going to put on my fascism hat, that's what I would do.

I'm really glad we got out when we did!

Hopefully none of that will happen and I'm worrying for nothing... But if I lived in Minneapolis right now, I would be buying a gun.

*To act as an active threat against the sanctuary status of the city and state.

Good luck putting their trust in the GOP then. I hope the muslims in Michigan like what they get.
As usual, victim blaming from the supposed Left. You guys secretly hate minorities just as much as the conservatives do, you just feel compelled to be polite about it most of the time. Given the opportunity? Out come the knives. Tell me more about how you want Palestinians to suffer.
I mostly agree with this person but I disagree with her assumptions about the motivations of those of us that were willing to support Harris over Trump. There are material differences in outcome and electing the GOP to a federal supermajority is not moving the needle in the right direction; unless we are ready to burn it all down with the hope of building something good from a clean slate.
That's what Trump said he wanted to do.

I don't want Palestinians to suffer. I want Muslims in Michigan who didn't vote for Harris to suffer. And they will very much likely, but vicariously through Palestinian suffering. Actually they will suffer directly through Trump.
Oh, I think bigotry based violence will now increase tremendously. There's a very good chance now that it will not be just vicariously. Trump made hate acceptable.

Wasn't it Trump who promised to prevent any Muslims from immigating here to the US? Who moved the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem? Who claimed that those brown people are poisoning our blood?

But still, the Muslims in Michigan wanted to punish Harris by publicly withdrawing support, which I do remember.

Yeah, I am sure that happened.

Scapegoat, scapegoat, scapegoat. What minority is small enough and despised anough to safely deflect guilt for the loss of a national election onto? Someone who stayed home is more guilty than someone who actively voted in a dictator, apparently.

We just need to learn to hate more and better, that's what will win elections. Find someone everyone despises and fears.

Well, yeah as a matter of fact. Trump's vote turnout was less than his vote in 2020. Elections are always about turnout. Granted she didn't inspire people. But seriously, what the fuck is wrong with people who sit out elections? They are indeed fucked up people.

They are not different, that's the problem.

Nobody is claiming that Trump won because Muslims in Michigan are ignorant and easily lead. But that is apparently true.

You don't seem to have any problems with bringing out the knives for white cis-het males when it suits you.

You really can't see what's wrong with accepting white bigotry as a given while screaming your hatred toward a refugee people who've been subjected to genocide?

TomC - job opportunity!
Ewww!

Someone ban SLD for that.
Tom
Yeah. I can see why you wouldn't want to do that. My bad!!!

But someone should fuck him in the ass. He needs it.
I vote Gospel. His travel time is a fraction of mine. And other reasons.
Tom

ETA ~Trump is a Christian.
Ask anyone at the First Baptist Church of Taylorsville. Trump epitomizes modern USA Christians.~

When have I ever done anything of the sort? I am a cis presenting male in daily life, and I've been het. I'm not a fan of bigotry in any form. Is this just "any criticism of racism is reverse racism" bullshit?

Sexism. it's obvious to me, that it's sexism.
The sexism probably worked both ways though because I know a lot of women (my wife included) who voted for her simply because she was a woman. That is why I thought Harris would win because of all the women Trump had pissed off.

Hope we're all aware we're going to blow past 2.5 degrees celsius of global warming and polio is going to come back. Sorry to be extra depressing. By the way I have all the deniers of these issues on ignore, can't see your stupid shit.

Why did she lose?

1) She’s a she, and an African American one at that.
2) Uninspiring leadership
3) Stuck to a script too much, not authentic
4) Biden stayed on too late - he never should have run to begin with
5). Bernie should have won 8 years ago. Stupid Dems nominate people who have no chance of winning.

Others?

Jeff Bezos is trying to keep the Washington Post relevant too.

Biden and Harris were tone deaf on the economy and the border.

Harris had did not cone across as having a clear economic plan. Inflation is down and jobs are credm but peole are having a hard time paying bills.

Harris kept invoking sympathy for illegals while people were fed up having to deal with illegals, even in progressive Seattle.

As pundits are saying people voted based on their pocketbooks, not who they liked.
It's not that she was tone deaf on the economy and the border, it's that she never fought for the policies that have been in place for the last four years.

How bad is the fucking economy? It's not. It's fucking great and has been fucking great. Inflation is up, but so are wages so who gives a shit. That's what she should have said. She never fought. She tried to answer their questions. She should have called them morons for questioning the economy.

And the Border. What's fucking wrong with the border? How exactly is it impacting the average American that people want to come here. You know why people are coming, because Biden and Harris are doing a great job running the country. We need immigrants you fucking morons! The biggest economic problem we have is demographic aging and that is due to a lack of workers - especially in many low wage shit jobs. We need immigrants to come and pay into social security so we can continue the program. But she never said anything like that she should have defended herself instead of tried to make excuses. She should have called Brett Baier and donald trump idiots to their face. She should have done it in the debate. Instead she just gave smirks. It didn't work.
It is getting harder to pay bills and rent for increasing numbers of people. This has been reported for some time.

Demands on food banks are going up.

Harris and Biden used the same old democrat strategy, promise people more social programs.

It did not work this time. Despite Trump's apparent racial insensitivity and rhetoric min rites to a degree shifted to Trump. Again from the pundits people voted on their pocketbook for who they thought would best handle the economy.

Polls consistently showed people liked Harris more than Trump, but they preferred Trump for economics.

The economy is not working for increasing numbers of people.

"The economy, stupid" is a phrase that was coined by Jim Carville in 1992. It is often quoted from a televised quip by Carville as "It's the economy, stupid." Carville was a strategist in Bill Clinton's successful 1992 U.S. presidential election against incumbent George H. W.

Clinton had a balanced budget and supported welfare reform.

Biden is democratic spend-a-holic.

I voted Harris because Trump is dangerous. If there was a sane Republican candidate who would reign in spending, cut govt waste, and close the damn border I would have voted republican.

She was much too scripted, she should have had answers, not non answers. It was maddening.
What answers are there?

High prices? Gonna lower them? No.

Improve the economy? It is already doing alright, but the people don't believe it. The Fed didn't help by waiting a bit too long to lower rates.

Save America from the massive hordes invading the border? What hordes?!

Harris lost to a bunch of red herrings.
Many like Cheato because he is NOT politically correct. Doesn't matter if there is red herrings. Just speak your mind!! Answer!
