Dem Post Mortem

The confederacy of dunces that is America apparently thinks the president controls the price of eggs. He doesn’t.
I do not think many people believe he does so directly.
But a president certainly sets the economic agenda that does affect things like egg supply and general inflation rate.
The last time a president tried to control the price of eggs was in 1972, when Richard Nixon imposed wage/price controls.
And the last time a presidential candidate proposed to control grocery prices was one Kamala Harris. I think you may remember her.
It eludes me how he was even able to constitutionally do that. He did it because inflation was rising owing to the fact that LBJ neglected to raise taxes to pay for both his Great Society and his idiotic Vietnam War.
I thought fiscal policy had nothing to do with inflation rate. At least that's what I was told when I pointed out that Biden's overspending contributed to inflation.

And we have courts and court rules to take care of the "nonsense reasons", though perhaps you would simply state that some red state's Supreme Court would be too corrupt to not declare Biden an insurrectionist without any credible evidence. I guess there's no arguing against that kind of logic, eh?
You trust the red state courts on something like this??
do you have a logical reason to not? Or just partisan hate? Basically you are agreeing with me that you believe our system is hopelessly corrupt.
If The Felon takes power the corruption will become hopeless.

in the state courts?
SCOTUS can override them.

then so be it. But that doesn’t nullify the state supreme courts as appropriate venues to adjudicate the constitution. Sorry.

No tax on tips.
Are they thinking about the grandmother who works at a dinner?
Or are they thinking about the hedge fund manager who tells his client on fee, but you can tip me 10%.

Wink wink, nudge nudge.

Ha, Ha. This started seeming to be a parody. But I quickly noticed that it was from The Babylon Bee, a right-wing "humour" site. It quickly devolved into vastly inferior "parody". These people need to watch the Onion to see how real parody is done.
In the future, community colleges will need to have courses for right-wingers on how to have a sense of humour and do humour.
Also notice that the last minute of the video is promoting Christian Nationalist propaganda books to indoctrinate kids with.

The right just can't get a grasp on humor. Humor punches up, not down. Punching down is considered to be just cruelty and not funny.

I seemed to have triggered some people here. :) There's an element of truth to what they are joking about in the video. And who are they "punching down?"

There have been many studies of this.
I think part of it is also that self deprecation seems to be lacking in conservatives.
Also, studies have shown that their brains are wired differently.

Of course there is, and it can be read in posts in the very forum, the "we're not wrong, everyone else is" type comments. And this may be true to a point but Democrats can not institute any liberal policy without first winning an election. And explaining to people why they are wrong isn't going to get Democrats past the goal line. Explain to 100 people why they are wrong and 98 of them will say, fuck you.

That article seems suspect to me. For one thing, the title says, "Conservatives lack sense of humor, study finds". Really? No humor at all...anywhere? The content doesn't even support the title. Plus, its focused on Colbert only. Not a very comprehensive or scientific study IMHO. And Psychology Today is not peer reviewed.

This is a more comprehensive look at the differences, from a peer reviewed source:

The politics of being funny: Humor styles, trait humorousness, and political orientations

Abstract

Previous research has shown that the use and appreciation of humor are related to various political phenomena. However, to date very little has been done to examine the association between specific styles of humor and left-right political orientations, the relationship between humor styles and political engagement, or the issue of whether political orientations predict the degree to which one has the ability to appreciate and create humor in everyday life. Data on humor styles, personality, and political attitudes gathered from an adult, community sample (N = 452; 70 men and 382 women) were analyzed to address this gap in the literature. The results indicate that people with a left-wing orientation are more likely to use affiliative and aggressive humor styles, that a general interest in politics is associated with the use of affiliative and self-enhancing styles of humor and a rejection of an aggressive humor style, and that those on the political left are not inherently more humorous than those on the right. These findings suggest that disparagement theories of humor may be more applicable to liberals and those less likely to take an interest in politics, and that an examination of how humor is used and perceived can broaden our understanding of left-right political differences and political participation.

. Psychology Today is reporting the findings of a peer review study that focused on the ability to identify satire and humor.

The phrase “lack of humor” has many connotations, one if which is no sense of humor. For example, I have seen it used to mean “why don’t you find what I find funny” and “You take yourself too seriously “.

IMO, there are very very few people who have no sense of humor. Identifying or correlating types of humor with personality or ideological types may be interesting for some but whatever the findings, why should anyone care?
