Dominion starts serving lawsuits

Here's the Dominion filing with all the Fox News quotes, there's a lot more than in the article.

Dominion's motion

From the filing.

Indeed, when Lindell made negative comments about Fox on Newsmax, Fox's executives exchanged worried emails about alienating him and sent him a gift along with a handwritten note from Suzanne Scott. Fox had a strong motive to welcome him on air and avoid rebutting his baseless claims.

Meanwhile, Fox continued to broadcast its lies about Dominion as it nervously eyed Newsmax. In a November 16 email, Rupert Murdoch told Scott to read a Wall Street Journal piece about Newsmax, telling her: "These people should be watched, if skeptically. Trump will concede eventually and we should concentrate on Georgia, helping any way we can. We don't want to antagonize Trump further, but Giuliani taken with a large grain of salt. Everything at stake here."

If media bias is supposed to be a federal crime now, instead of a Twitter files congressional committee, shouldn't there be a Fox News files committee?

Reading through this, it looks like Faux et al are screwed. The executives at Faux were well aware the allegations about Dominion were false and yet these allegations kept getting aired.

The prosecutors have to prove that they knew it was lies. This is usually the hard part. But Fox has gone out of their way to provide ample evidence that they all knew it was BS. And all because OAN and Newsmax were starting to move in on their territory.

Fox News knowingly promoted lies about fake election fraud that led up to a riot that got people killed because Fox News didn't want to lose ratings.

Reading the PDF linked to, that is a done deal. Most all the Faux executives knew it was all false and said so and left many paper trails. Barring some legal travesty, Faux has lost this case. Everybody from Rupert Murdoch on down knew it was all bolocks. But the lies kept being presented for fear Faux would lose their audience if they didn't keep pushing these lies. And it wasn't just on cable shows. It was posted on the net, on Faux "news sites", Faux pundit's blogs and elsewhere on Faux official media. It is nor like some guest blurted out a lie nobody knew that the guest would do. Every appearance of a Lindell or other fools was discussed in daily meetings of show producers. Faux kept the lies on air for months. Despite many e-mails from Dominion demonstrating the lies were that, lies.

On Nov. 30, 2020, Sean Hannity hosted Sidney Powell on his prime-time Fox News program. As she had in many other interviews around that time — on Fox and elsewhere in right-wing media — Ms. Powell, a former federal prosecutor, spun wild conspiracy theories about what she said was “corruption all across the country, in countless districts,” in a plot to steal re-election from the president, Donald J. Trump.
At the center of this imagined plot were machines from Dominion Voting Systems, which Ms. Powell claimed ran an algorithm that switched votes for Mr. Trump to votes for Joseph R. Biden Jr. Dominion machines, she insisted, were being used “to trash large batches of votes.”
Mr. Hannity interrupted her with a gentle question that had been circulating among election deniers, despite a lack of supporting proof: Why were Democrats silencing whistle-blowers who could prove this fraud?
Did Mr. Hannity believe any of this?
“I did not believe it for one second.”

That was the answer Mr. Hannity gave, under oath, in a deposition in Dominion’s $1.6 billion defamation lawsuit against Fox News, according to information disclosed in a court hearing on Wednesday. The hearing was called to address several issues that need to be resolved before the case heads for a jury trial, which the judge has scheduled to begin in April.

Mr. Hannity’s disclosure — along with others that emerged from court on Wednesday about what Fox News executives and hosts really believed as their network became one of the loudest megaphones for lies about the 2020 election — is among the strongest evidence yet to emerge publicly that some Fox employees knew that what they were broadcasting was false.
This is gonna cost 'em.
One has to wonder what Hannity's rational would be for such an answer in a deposition. He could have said, "I was open minded", or some other non committal response.

I think this goes to the core of Trumpism and the main division of his base. There are those who believe the lies and there are those who think the lies are necessary to maintain power. Those who believe the lies are considered stupid by the liars and when cornered, a liar will admit to being a liar, before being lumped in with the stupid.
Okay, I'm going to quote myself because I found the answer to my question.

When Hannity sat for the deposition, he knew Dominion already had all the texts and emails we've been reading. He had no choice but to say, "I did not believe it for one second." Any other answer would make him guilty of perjury and he knew it. I'm willing to bet his attorney told him in no uncertain terms to state clearly that he never believed any of Trump's claims.

Not that any of this really improves his position, but it does spare him a criminal charge resulting from a civil case.

What we have here is a very strange case, but nothing we haven't seen before. Think of the person who creates an online account and presents themselves as an attractive and interested person. This person may use pics lifted from some porn website, or in many cases, pics of a family member, in order to present themselves as a genuine person. They form relationships with other people online, and the lies they tell support the relationship and keep their victim interested.

What we have here is a case of corporate catfishing. Fox had to keep their audience engaged and to do this, believed it was necessary to lie and deceive. Like all true catfishers, they didn't believe there was any benefit to telling the truth.

More from Dominion,

If any doubt existed about what Powell would say in the interview, certainly none existed by the time the pre-taped interview aired. No such doubt ever existed, though, because Powell sent Bartiromo an email prior to the interview with the subject line “Election Fraud Info” which Bartiromo forwarded to Grossberg with information from a woman claiming Dominion’s software flips votes from Trump to Biden and tying Dominion to a conspiracy theory involving Nancy Pelosi and Senator Dianne Feinstein. In the same email, Powell’s singular source explained that Roger Ailes (who, as previously noted, had died years ago) “huddles” every day with Rupert Murdoch about airing anti-Trump Material, and that Justice Scalia was killed in a “human hunting expedition.” Powell’s source also explained that she gets her information from experiencing something “like time-travel in a semi-conscious state,” allowing her to “see what others don't see, and hear what others don't hear,” and she received messages from “the wind.” Bartiromo read this email at the time: she responded to Powell saying she had shared this “very imp[ortant] info” with Eric Trump.

So Powell has a pathology. Not surprising. I wonder if she will use that as a defense.

Fox News owner Rupert Murdoch handed Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner “confidential information” about then-Democratic nominee Joe Biden’s 2020 campaign ads before they aired on the conservative network, according to a new court filing.

The leaks provided Kushner, then a Trump White House adviser, with “a preview of Biden’s ads before they were public,” according to court documents released Monday in Dominion Voting Systems’ $1.6-billion defamation suit against Fox News.

“During Trump’s campaign, Rupert provided Trump’s son-in-law and senior advisor, Jared Kushner, with Fox confidential information about Biden’s ads, along with debate strategy,” the filing declared. The filing didn’t elaborate on how Murdoch assisted with “debate strategy.”

So where are all the Twitter Filers to complain how that kind of collusion is a violation of some law?
Didn’t you get the memo? Cheating is well and good as long as it’s Republicans doing it.

Why is Rupert Murdoch throwing his anchors under the table, which also happens to be killing his case and infuriating his viewers, who will again be leaving in droves – they already are. There is MASSIVE evidence of voter fraud & irregularities in the 2020 Presidential Election. Just look at the documentary “2000 MULES” and you will see large scale ballot stuffing caught on government cameras, or votes cast without Legislatures approval, or just recently, the FBI/Twitter Files Scandal. RIGGED!!!
There was so much Voter Fraud & Irregularities in the 2020 Presidential Election that it amazes me how weak and ineffective FoxNews is at portraying itself in the lawsuit against them. They look too scared and frightened to reveal the massive amounts of voter fraud & Irregularities already found, and it would actually help them in the lawsuit. Instead FoxNews wants to silence its anchors and reporters, the reason so many of their viewers fled. The Election was that of a Third World Country!

They're out there somewhere throwing new shit against the wall in a massive coverup aimed directly at the stimulus-response-addled brains of the American electorate. Some of it is recycled, like covid lab leak, trans athletes, but you've got some new stuff, too, like Jan 6th was full of undercover feds according to the FBI but you have to read between the lines to see it (allegedly), Biden refused to send bottled water to East Palestine OH, so Trump had to do it, and coming soon, a bunch of crap from Cucker Tarlson cherry-picked from J6 tapes.

It really is puzzling why Fox News just doesn’t present all the evidence of fraud in their defense. Maybe they need to bring in the Pillow Guy as a witness.

Or Trump in 2020 himself.
