Federal troops helping suppress protests in Portland OR

Even the police admit it? There must have been one hell of a preponderance of evidence.

Well, it's Richmond, VA, were the prevailing attitude among authority figures, even the police, is on the side of protecting protesters and against white supremacists. They're not inclined to go along with right wing extremists.

These are the same people who will sit silently and even watch and cheer as citizens are brutalized or kidnapped, but when their ilk are finally out of power, they'll pretend they were never on the wrong side of history to begin with.

What are "Austrians"?

Oh, sorry, thought for a minute we were playing Jeopardy.

Good Germans is also an acceptable answer.

He is definitely using his propaganda machine to try to spin this as communists or whatever being bad to the brave cops

Of course! Trump's team is very politically savvy. Trump is trying to run as the law and order President. The protests and defund the police are golden issues for his campaign.

The protests don't help Trump without any visible violence or vandalism, and they are still some who keep doing that. What are they even protesting for at this point anyway? Everybody knows about BLM and Floyd by now. BLM support did rise since Floyd's murder, but I'd say it's mostly because of the video and not because they saw a protest somewhere. The support had a sharp increase after the murder, but has had a steady decrease since, and I blame the violent idiots. It's just malevolent, masturbatory narcissism at this point, they're doing no good for anybody.

In this poll blm support was at a net +26 on 6/2/20, but in the latest poll it's down to +14, which is lower than it was the day of Floyd's murder when it was +18.

Yeah, the oddity is that the right-wing extremists, despite having some ties with the Police, they generally hate the police.

Probably a lot less so in the last couple of years as police culture has slipped further and further into right wing extremism. Maybe not as much as Border Patrol or ICE, which have become Trump cult goons.

... where people take hydroxychloroquine, drink Chlorox and inject disinfectants at the suggestion of a semi-literate Crime Boss.

A long one, if they injure any actual cops. If the damage is done to Blackwater/KBR thugs contracted by Trump at taxpayer expense to incite violence... then none. Those fuckers bought that ticket when they signed up to promote fascism.
Even the ones who get actual cops. I think the people with lasers should get qualified immunity. ;)

Exactly. The argument has never been specifically made that pointing lasers at mercenary paid security troops who are indiscriminately shooting banned chemical weapons into nonviolent crowds from the upper floors of a building is a violation.

How long of a prison sentence should be given for the people using the ultra powerful lasers at cops?

The same sentence that would be given if they shined a powerful laser at a normal citizen. (Sentence should be more severe if pointed at pilot as this action threatens a large group of passengers). As an aside (not directed at you), sad to see some on the left adopting some of the behavior of those on the extreme right and not caring about rule of law.

I think at this point the veneer of agreement which is the rule of law no longer exists and definitely shouldn't be handed back to the groups that used to enforce it

Wall of Veterans’ Arrives in Portland to Protect Black Lives Matter Protesters from Trump’s DHS Troops

“We were attacked,” Obermeyer told the New York Times. “We decided that, based on the requirements of the Constitution–the Constitution and the oath we all took–we needed to be out here to ensure, and we contacted other veterans to be out here to ensure, our citizens did not have their right to free speech and their right to protest taken away from them by federal security forces.”

Where's some actual evidence that anyone did so? A laser powerful enough to blind isn't exactly something you can go down to Radio Shack and buy. The highest power things I've seen could leave permanent damage, not permanent blindness.

Fox News claims it so it must be true!

The laser pointers that people buy at Radio Shack are typically in the milliwatt range. But five to ten watt laser pointers (plenty sufficient to fry a retina. Looking directly at the sun, the eye's cones receive on the order of one milliWatt) are easy to find readily available... They are also much more expensive ($80 to a couple hundred dollars) than the Radio Shack mW range laser pointers. These are the ones that pilots have been complaining about. Fortunately for the pilots there is significant atmospheric scattering of the beams over the few thousand feet between the source and them.

A quick google search found this "big sale" for 10,000 mw (10 Watt) 520nm laser pointers for $99.99.

https://www.laserpointerpro.com/10000mw-520nm-burning-high-power-green-laser-pointer-kits-p-3908.html?currency=usd

There are many more internet shops selling high power laser pointers that came up in the search.

Try searching "laser pointer" in google shopping.

Richmond riots instigated by white supremacists disguised as Black Lives Matter

RICHMOND, Va. – Riots in downtown Richmond over the weekend were instigated by white supremacists under the guise of Black Lives Matter, according to law enforcement officials.

Protesters tore down police tape and pushed forward toward Richmond police headquarters, where they set a city dump truck on fire.

Police declared the event an “unlawful assembly” and ordered people to leave, later deploying tear gas.

Six people were arrested. The mayor of Richmond thanked the Black Lives Matter protesters he said tried to stop the white supremacists from spearheading the violence.

hmmm
