This is too funny. The new FOX News CEO is urging people to scrutinize content more and avoid the controversial statements that are driving sponsors away.

But those controversial statements are exactly what the audience craves. If they stop saying things that are crazy, stupid, and/or evil, they will lose viewers and won't be able to charge nearly as much money to advertisers. If they don't tone down the content, they will keep the viewers, but lose advertisers.

This should put average conservolibertarians in quite the conundrum.

They cannot tolerate less extremist content on FOX News, but if they don't let the advertisers win, then they are opposing the will of rich people and large corporations, and that is against their religion, because the economic elites must be served and obeyed at all times.

On the other hand, if (a very big if) MSNBC gets heavily on the progressive train what will happen with its sponsors?

Shows like Democracy Now, Sam Seder, David Pakman and so on already have a market segment because CNN and MSNBC don't cover this stuff.

I would assume that a capitalist company which would not like very much advocacy of socialism (some socialism is healthy - to keep things from being Dickensian England) would maybe want to get out of sponsorships if MSNBC covered all progressives all the time. But in contrast with Fox News, if ACME widget company pulled ads in the middle of a contract because Ocasio-Cortez was on too much it would be bad for PR.

TYT backstopped with $20 million Jewish investment to continue to be anti white.

Good Stuff.

It is the proclomations that proponents of equality are actually promoting "anti-white" propaganda that lets me know that racism is alive and well.

The local conservative radio station was railing about this, this morning. Apparently, when the free market decides to distance itself from extremist viewpoints, this is evidence that said market has been, and I quote, "so poisoned by fascist ideology that I think it can't be saved". I shall reserve my tiniest of my violins for my lament over this particular affront on the first amendment.

Yep, it will never work. Just take a look at the comments sections when Shepherd Smith does a sane, fact based broadcast. That's a whole lot of abuse. I've always wondered how he gets away with that. Must know where the bodies are buried.

Being a gay man, means that Shep did not engage in harassing any of the women or in talking about the raunchy things he wanted to do to them to other guys...

I think some of the oligarchs might be turning on Trump because of the trade war and the sheer stupidity of his trying to blow up the G7 and NATO.

They smile like a possum eating cat shit when they think about the tax cuts and what Pruitt is doing to the EPA. They are perfectly happy to look the other way and ignore the insane rhetoric about immigration (even though their own data and writings from places like CATO support the free flow of labor along with capital).

However, completely fucking over trade is no good. Thing is, they've got the election success though massive anti-government disinformation campaigns that painted Trump as the anti-establishment champion of the common man. That electorate bloc thinks that its life sucks because of the trade deficit, immigrants, and globalist elite. It has been a successful way for the corporate oligarchy in the US to get the tax breaks they wanted and a weakening of "administrative state" in the form of gutted environmental rules.

They may have some collateral damage from their decades-long disinformation campaign that they have to clean up. The people that voted them into power don't want free market capitalism.

Except the listeners and viewers are so sold on the message, they'll believe the fascism they are driving forward is actually freedom pressing back against leftist fascism (a metaphorical windmill that way too many right-wingers believe).

That didn't take long to get into the inevitable what-aboutism tu quoque fallacy.

Good Stuff.

Darn those Jews!

If only there were someone like the neo-Nazis warning is about the inherent danger of Jews all these years!

Can you think of anyone?

I frequently lampoon that very argument from conservolibertarians, but when I do, I'm accused of constructing a straw-man, then I'm told that I'm the extremist.

"Globalist elite"?

Don't use their euphemisms unless you are one of them.

"Globalist elite" is the right wing code word for "Jew," like putting triple parentheses around someone's name.

Fox News is a victim of its demographics. It's audience is aging out of the consumer years, which is what advertisers want.

Fox's diehard viewers, the ones who insist Fox be on the TV in the nursing home day room, have nothing to offer advertisers. Why advertise a car on a channel watched by people who have bought the last car they'll ever own?

If Fox really cared about their hyper-senior viewers, Bill OReilly would still be on the air. Bill had to go because the Fox bean counters are just as good as anybody else's. Fox has to appeal to GenXers, if it's going to stay in the game.

When was FOX news ever profitable? Rupert Murdoch always used the network as a means to an end.
