Merged Gaza just launched an unprovoked attack on Israel

Allegations of collective punishment: Note the lack of proof--because there isn't any.
Segregating Palestinians into Gaza is collective punishment.

Amigo, I was kinda confused by this comment. Gaza is the home for the Gazians. Are you saying that they should be allowed to move somewhere else?
Why shouldn't they? You have that right. I have that right. Gazans do not.
They are poor, radicalized, under-educated, under-skilled. Netanyahu tried to sneak them into Egypt early on, Egypt was like "No thanks" and closed the border. No one wants the Gazans. This is part of the problem. They are orphans no one cares about.
Gaza js just an open air prison where all the guards are on the outside keeping the prisoners inside and the prison gangs now run the place.
This is a problem. Hamas will take advantage of any weakness Israel provides. Their goal is disruption, nothing else. What Israel has done with Gaza hasn't helped its own security. They are effectively creating a powder keg. It went off once on October 7th. But freeing things up comes with its own security risks. I'd hate to be in charge of Israeli security. The more you open things up, the more threats on the average Israeli. The more you tighten it up, the more threats of brief but big acts of terror.

This is why the solution isn't in Gaza. Whatever Israel does there just changes the risks. Diplomacy with Iran is the only option, as difficult an option as it is.

So now the Israeli parliament is talking about moving on to annexing the West Bank.
Didn't see that one coming.
Don't think it will get any traction?
Oh you just watch.

Let's put a news article in the thread for this.

The whole annexation of the West Bank only has 25-24 support. Another lesser annexation vote of Maale Adumim, an illegal settlement, passed by 32-9.

I don't think that there is enough support for the whole annexation, but this will push the Overton window a bit. When the Israeli govt next says, "okay, we'll just annex these 1, 2, or 3 settlements where Israelis already live," there will be a general "phew, that was a close one" as a reaction. But the goal for the right-most side will still in sight and that much closer as the expansion continues.

Israel is sick of Palestinian bullshit. They're sick of the world showing their antisemitism. They feel alone.

I understand if they've run out of patience.

And finally, they should have gotten the west bank when Israel was first founded. Jordan just took it. In 1967 Israel took it back, but treated it as having a special Palestinian status. If this generosity isn't acknowledged, why would they bother to continue?

I understand if Israel feels like taking it back fully. They have every right to

See, I strongly suspect that in 20 years' time, it will be exactly the statements of one DrZ that stand in evidence of European support of American MAGA≈Nazis, and of the rise of fascist ethnic cleansing by the Israeli government.

Expansion of the settlements is just slow motion ethnic cleansing.

No its not.
It is most certainly a form of   Ethnic cleansing

Ethnic cleansing is the systematic forced removal of ethnic, racial, or religious groups from a given area, with the intent of making the society ethnically homogeneous. Along with direct removal such as deportation or population transfer, it also includes indirect methods aimed at forced migration by coercing the victim group to flee and preventing its return, such as murder, rape, and property destruction. Both the definition and charge of ethnic cleansing is often disputed, with some researchers including and others excluding coercive assimilation or mass killings as a means of depopulating an area of a particular group, or calling it a euphemism for genocide or cultural genocide.

That would make for an interesting election next time around in Israel.

Taking over the west bank officially won't displace any Palestinians already living there.

On the contrary, they'll be incorporated into Israel and get a bunch of rights like free healthcare and stuff.

West Bank history indicates that is counterfactual. It emboldens settlers and sets the stage for more expansion.

Your naïveté would be cuter if wasn’t underpinned by bigotry.
