Good cop

I think sometimes when I have an encounter with a cop, "Why now, that was a good cop." Then I begin to think a little bit on it and realize he was just being human as we should all be expected to be. I also know that regardless of how nice he was, he was evaluating me for a ticket or perhaps as a violator of some kind, Sometimes I see a cop who treated me well treating a brown person not so well and the illusion of good cop goes away...for that cop.

I was really glad to see those ducks rescued.:)

It's a movie but I always liked the scene in "Trip to Bountiful" when the cop drives her to her old home just to look around.

I think there is an identical thread already in this forum, but it died due to lack of input.

Or lack of articles to input.

Ya, I think I started that one too. Figured it was easier just to start a new one than try to find the old one.

And I don't think it's that hard to find good cop stories. I have a lot of respect for police. They do a tough job. And I also know a lot of them can be downright dicks and we here are always quick to bring them up. But I just want people to see other sides of this issue.

Isn't at like saying that most accountants take good care of your money? It's only really a story when one of them embezzles.

True, but the stories I've posted are of cops going above and beyond their normal duties to help out.

Seriously though, I've heard domestic disputes are the most unpredictable situations for them to go into and I would think they have to go into a lot of them.

Cops have been at the house across the street from us three times in the last three months. Girlfriend homeowner wants boyfriend out even though he lives there too. He leaves. A few days later, he's back living in the house. Rinse, repeat... This sort of thing must be really frustrating for the police. My wife's concern is for the little daughter crying in the street.

Some cops, not a majority, took the job rather than becoming priests. Other cops took the job because they wanted to be in the side of authority. How's that for a mix? Kind of reminds me of pre-industrial society. First child gets the estate, second child goes into the military or becomes a cop, and the third child becomes a priest. Except for priesthood it works for a equality society too.

Most every cop with whom I've been in contact was a good person, usually a good cop, sometimes an inadequate cop, but most always a good guy. The one who notified us of our son's passing a little over three years ago was a real good competent caring cop.

Disclaimer for this total derail, I wonder about the connection between homosexual priests and this selection process. Research is now showing younger brothers have a higher probability of being gay. Makes you wonder if the ancient Catholic church noticed this and used it to help fill the ranks.

California Police Officer --- aka Officer of the Peace. Ironically, this was my last image of 2014. I posted it last week and it made its way around the globe more so than any image I posted in a long time. The world is hungry to believe in the good. And, the world IS good in a lot of ways. People asked if Officer Milo is a real cop. Yes, he is -- and a meditator, a women's self-defense teacher, martial artist and yogi. Others complain that he is not an 'Officer of the Peace' if he is carrying a gun. Perhaps, we will get to that way of life again one day. But, for now, if someone with a gun comes into my home to take my life and a cop shows up with glitter, flowers and peace signs, we are all screwed.
