Great Republican Ideas

?? I didn't use party names. I just said "conservative."

A fact not lost on me. I was merely adding to your distinction.

Oh, gotcha. :)

I beg to differ. Maybe "TODAY'S conservatives" would be an applicable reference. But IMHO there have been decent conservative ideas offered on occasion in the past. But none of them are embraced by the current Republican party. The OP is a request for good ideas/visions of the current Republican party.

Politically inspired outrage.

This is indeed the Republican's greatest gift to America in the past 20 years. From legalization of gay marriage leading to countless ballot initiatives to ban gay marriage, death panels, Terri Schiavo, a black President, to today... outrage over vaccination, the GOP has helped millions get angry over either small things or problems that don't even exist.

Honorable mention: The seasonal outrage (war on Christmas).

Are the Republicans wrong to want to set a pretty firm stance against China's continued economic and military expansion?

For my 5000th post, I'll for once agree with the Repubs.
Gay Marriage was a slippery slope. You can now marry a gerbil. I did. Her name is Bangles and I love her.

Congrats...

The wedding night should be... interesting.

;)

Do they? Their stance on China seems to be based mostly on Hunter Biden having been there.

No. It is one thing Stopped Clock got right. Good to see Biden continue on with it.

I don't know. I like blocking China in some way but just raising tariffs and claiming China is paying them was pretty friggin' stupid.

Hey, wasn't Healthcare Reform a Romney thing? I mean, back before it was the Devil Incarnate and mainlining Socialism, wasn't that a Conservative initiative?

China has trade issues. Trump's soln to the problem wasn't right though. Americans lost money in the process, all around, from agricultural lost sales to the increased cost of business and products. The US gained little from the tariffs, if anything.

It was, but I still don't really care for his method, not even with the serial numbers filed off.

Well, even a bad attempt to do a good thing would qualify for this thread.
Like, the first effort to slice bread was pretty thick, but it was still the greatest thing since unsliced bread.

We are 2 consenting adult mammals. Thanks for the congrats.

I hope you have her consent in writing.

This is a bit personal, but...we have a prenup. If I cheat on her, she gets the house. If she cheats on me, I get some carrots strips and cracked sunflower seeds. Oh, and her exercise wheel.

Kinda.. he was using the Heritage Foundation plan that had been created to fight against the Clinton plan to improve healthcare. So a policy that would actually help people, but only done to prevent a better policy for helping people... I guess that counts.

HR 1193 - "This bill expands research on valvular heart disease and its treatment. This disease is caused by damage to or disease affecting any valve that controls blood flow in the heart."

THAT does look positive, even if it is offered out of personal self interest of an elected official.
I think "somewhat serious" attached to that list reveals its truly cynical, sarcastic and possibly even facetious nature.

Moi? :dancy:

Didn't Ted Cruz and other R's vote against aid to blue states in the Northeast hit hard by a storm? There was no revenge whining from the D's when Texas and the Cotton Belt were hit by Gulf storms.

Okay, another bump.
Not one Republican or "conservative" has come forward to articulate a single policy, idea or vision being advanced by the current Republican cabal.
Not even the bad or terrible ideas that are held to be great ideas by Republican leadership (e.g. voter suppression, lower taxes on the rich etc.).
None of them has come forth here (or anywhere else on this site AFAIK) to condemn The Big Lie or those who promulgate it.

It really does appear that our resident "conservatives" are the equals of the intellectually, ethically and morally bankrupt leaders of the right wing extremist movement that is afoot in the United States.

A thread-adjacent topic for another thread:

"What do you like best about America?" Be specific. Don't just say, "My freedom." Everybody in the world has freedom to at least some degree--even federal prisoners have the freedom to serve their sentences without complaint.

"What do you like best about America?" Or, "What has America done in your lifetime that you're most proud of?"

I'll wager the majority of the answers are liberal ideas, but I'm willing to hear differently.
