Holy Crap - The Revolution is about to start

No way? What are you even talking about? Russia today is way more capitalist than it was in the Soviet Union era! The U.S. could have played a huge role in shaping that, but they completely missed the mark by trying to do too much at once while at the same time treating Russia like it could never be part of the team.
They abandoned communism, but went kleptocracy, not democracy. What we saw was just a step in the looting.

Of course, Communism is just another kleptocracy.
Communism gave the revenue to those in power but the state maintained control of the capital. You couldn't take it with you, you had to remain loyal to the system. Putin has been seizing the capital, not merely the revenue.

“They weren't banging the drum about fascist dictator for life, imprison political enemies, hunt down us citizens, repeat of hitler, existential threat.”

I was. Who is “they”?
I’ve been mouthing those truths since the orange shitbag first announced back in ‘15.
Actually since the 1980’s not much has changed about him other than dementia.
Remember The Central Park Five? Remember the full page ad he took out?
He probably didn’t mean it though - they were never executed so no harm done, right?

Sometimes your unwillingess to read is mind-boggling. Seriously. It's RIGHT FUCKING THERE.
You think the left wing was happy with W winning re-election '04 or Trump in '16?
No, they weren't happy. But they also weren't preaching the same message in the lead-up. They weren't banging the drum about fascist dictator for life, imprison political enemies, hunt down us citizens, repeat of hitler, existential threat.
Duh, because W didn’t have the record of fondness for dictators nor did he fantasize about being one. Did you just wake up from 25 year coma?

Ya sure ya betcha. Both sides. 🙄

I’m not going to waste my time explaining the difference for your benefit. It’s been done, to no effect.
You've explained what you believe the difference to be; I've explained that your explanation is fallacious.
With respect, I haven't seen such an explanation.

I will acknowledge some occasions where his comments were spooled-up unnecessarily, such as recent the "bloodbath" quip. That said, DJT is the last person deserving of any benefit of doubt.

In any case, if simply telling the truth (e.g., DT not committing to the peaceful transition of power is a direct threat to democracy) results in violent consequences, that's not on the truth tellers.

You know what's telling about the whole 'Trump doesn’t literally mean what he says; he means something else' argument? They don’t apply that same logic to liberals.
 Okay, fine. Harris literally means that college students are all dumb, and Clinton literally means that half of the people who vote Republican are deplorable humans who are irredeemable. And Obama literally thinks there are 57 states. Happy now?

It's dumb to apply that logic at all, regardless of which party you're targeting.

I'm confused. I thought the point was not taking people out of context and to take a more nuanced view. Now you're saying it's dumb to do that at all? I was actually seeing valuable returns in what you were saying. Guess I misunderstood.
You implied that I don't use the same method of considering context when talking about liberals. I do. But it was a helluvalot more fun to flip it entirely and just go to taking everyone out of context and completely literally. I find it useful in highlighting the issue.

Honestly, I wasn’t referring to you—I was talking about conservative public officials and media.

“She’s a radical war hawk. Let’s put her with a rifle standing there with nine barrels shooting at her, OK?” the former president said at a campaign event in Glendale with former Fox News host Tucker Carlson. “Let’s see how she feels about it, you know, when the guns are trained on her face.”

Try gaslighting that.

Wanna know the difference between those voting for Harris and Trump supporters (speaking to the beloved base)? Harris voters understand that Trump can win this election. Trump supporters won't accept a loss is possible. 2 in 3 Trump voters can't fathom Trump can lose. Heck, 25% of Trump voters think he'll accept losing. Admittedly, the supporter accepting a close loss at 70% is way too low for me on the Harris side, but that is more than double that of Trump's voters.

It's not that they're actually offended, it's that they know they can make milquetoast liberals burn with shame by pointing out a hypocrisy. And getting a rise out of libs is the only thing capable of giving them joy anymore.

The way it is going these days, it seems the only way they can get an erection.

I mean, they'll be the first to tell you they loathe their spouses and ex-spouses, and don't understand why their children never call anymore, so their options for merriment are limited. You ever hear stand-up at a Republican bar? Bitching about how much you hate your family, co-workers, and every celebrity is like 90 percent of conservative boomer humor. That is, if you're not going to "go blue" and just start saying racist nonsense for the cheap laugh.

Nine rifles shooting Trump in the face would be good clean fun. Just sayin’

Disclaimer for the benefit of the nuance-impaired:
The above is not a call for violence. It is appropriately sarcastic mockery of Trump’s very serious call for violence. Not against “illegals” but against a politician of conscience who opposes fascism.

Hey conservatives, wanna gaslight us on why this one isn't what it looks like?

Halloween parade faces backlash over float depicting Trump leading Harris in chains

That's just... good clean fun, I guess?

This kind of behavior has led some people who typically vote Republican to reconsider, including my wife this election cycle. I’m still waiting for her to explain how, after all the insults directed at Mexicans, Haitians, and Venezuelans, she changed her stance because of a comedian’s remarks about Puerto Ricans—especially since she's Dominican!

Regardless, I was glad she’s finally seeing Trump for what he is, even though it’s been fairly obvious. She did take Biden’s comments personally, and like everyone else, I reassured her that "I’m pretty sure he didn’t mean it the way the media portrayed it—and even if he did, he wasn’t entirely wrong. I mean, you see that now, right?" She agreed. ;)

You let your wife fill out her ballot herself?!

So woke!

So long ago Emily doesn’t remember.

But it wasn’t about a group of fascists trying to seize control of a government; it was about a group of clowns desperately trying to retain control over one they had no business trying to control in the first place, all due to Cold War politics, oil interests, and addiction to regional dominance. They staged a coup, alienated much of the population, and allowed economic inequality to escalate, which eventually lead to a nationwide protest. As the authoritarian leaders propped up by the US abandoned ship, Islamist filled the power vacuum, leading to a strict theocratic rule that continues to this day. Just like the Fall of the USSR, the USA screwed up an opportunity.
