How do we support the students?

There are a couple of options too. Someone needs to create an organization or if there is promote it more that is in opposition to the NRA. And second, a political party like the tea party needs to be started to promote gun control.

Was thinking about this over the weekend. I'm not sure that an organization is even desirable - all it does is to consolidate an entity for vilification by Cheato and the NRA. If it remains as a public opinion groundswell, it will be harder for them to combat. Also harder for it to endure, though. Not sure what the best tradeoff would be.

You aren't supporting the shooting victims, you are telling disinterested teens around you to register and start giving a fuck about Government because Trump is a sign that not enough people are giving enough fucks to save our Government from devolving into authoritarian "free market" garbage.
What are the ways we can support the student protesters?

If you mean young students, then I don't think they should really be getting involved in political activism on either side of the debate. Firstly there is a risk they will be used by adults, and secondly, they haven't really had enough time to form their own views on issues yet.

I don't even think free speech rights should apply at a younger age. E.g. a child shouldn't have a right to advocate for bestiality legalization and hand out pamphlets to everyone. Just as, you shouldn't be approaching young students with that kind of material.
Odd, an 18 year old gets shot at in another country, the right-wing will cum in their pants while voting for them to serve in office. A bunch of 17 year olds get shot at in their school, and we are told that these kids are not mature and should be ignored.

Yep.

Not certain why. The NRA works via primaries. They can buy off legislators for real cheep. Being able to buy off Democrats won't make a difference as Democrats typically think there needs to be some restrictions. Republicans, however...

- over a dozen elementary school children murdered... nothing
- nearly 60 dead and over 850 injured country music fans... nothing
- 20 to 25 Republican representatives were shot at with 4 people getting shot... nothing

If anything, the rhetoric from the NRA is getting nastier and we are probably one or two shootings away from them saying we need to repeal the 4th and 5th amendments... and their followers will march for that. It is pretty hard to counter that, as it is too absurd to actually believe, but their NRA members do.

This organization could pay for candidates who go against the ones are anti-guntrol. They could be other Republicans. If there is theroritically enough support for gun control measures they would usurp the incumbent.

I'm beginning to think that Republicans view mass shooters as simply beta testers for their plan to keep the populace docile and quiet.

Point being, they aren't really ready for political activism. If you consider that "off topic" in your thread, well sorry, but as I say, I don't think it's a good idea.

Sure they are ready. And why shouldn't a child have the right to advocate for bestiality legalization? You sound like the sort of person who's rights I would restrict before that child.

Like the Sandy Hook victims? Probably right, but then again they weren't on TV shaming legislators and the President.

they haven't really had enough time to form their own views on issues yet.

You would be surprised how quickly views form when you're being shot at and your friends killed. If these kids' views are less than well formed, what does that say about the views of those aging politicians that they have so deftly laid bare as BS? Most of those 'children' demonstrate better vocabulary and comprehension in a single paragraph, than the Plonker Of The United States has shown in 15 months since he was elected.

Children should be seen and not heard. How quaint.

The number one thing which can be done is to support their political activism. That goes for those who want to ban guns, ban abortion, legalize bestiality, get taxpayer funding for expeditions to Atlantis or anything else which strikes their fancy or that they feel is important.

The biggest problem in America is that so much of the population is so fucking unengaged in the political process that they just don't participate. That gives the fringe groups who are willing to put in the time and effort to do so a lot more power and authority than their numbers warrant and leads to bullshit like Donald Trump ending up as your President. Getting young people involved in the process and demonstrating that they can make a difference when they bother to show up will go a lot further in fixing one of the main things wrong with your country than most anything else this side of firebombing Washington DC and starting from scratch.

Register to vote, and then vote. Dragoon your friends into voting. Get young people to vote. The younger cohorts have the distressing habit of not showing up at the voting booth. While the old farts who are riled up by listening to Lush Rimjob, and Mark Leslime and Sean Insanity on Faux radio do show up in large numbers to vote for idiots.

You haven't been listening to the Stoneman Douglas students, have you?

Overall, they have shown themselves to be more articulate and better educated than most of the so-called adults on the pro-gun side of this debate.
