How should west respond to potential (likely) Russian invasion of Ukraine?

Boy, western propaganda is very strong.

Here is a bad news for you. Ukrainians took a territory which russians simply left.
And in doing so ukrainian took heavy losses. They punched the air and lost.

In other news Georgians refused to open second front. I guess they learned their lesson. They looked at Afghanistan debacle, looked at the map, looked at what is happening in Ukraine and decided, we would better off to have semi-normal relation with Russia, rather than being Victoria Nuland's puppets. They actually reported GDP growth :) Don't know how they managed it but they did.
Hey! You’re back!

So was it Putin’s plan just to leave all along then? If so, why’d he go there in the first place? Why did he just abandon all of his equipment and ammo? Is he secretly trying to help the Ukrainians win? This was his plan all along - to get his ass kicked?

Yes, they planned to leave it. They went there in March hoping to get Slavyansk but it did not work, so were staying there doing nothing eventually they left ~2000 of police units and DNR (not russian army). It's a war, most of the time plans don't go as planned.
In the end NATO lost ~2000 soldiers dead while russians lost pretty much zero and have much more defendable position for the winter or until ukrainian regime surrenders, whichever comes first.

Anyway, I am trying to not blame you all for garbage you are respewing here. You are the victims of the mainstream media lies.

Why did he just abandon all of his equipment and ammo?
Never happened. People geo- tagged these videos, they are from .... Crimea :)
And there were not that many equipment there. As I said these were national guards units, only 2000 of them and in Russia these are basically police force, they are not even supposed to fight regular army. They were there to keep order.
It was a textbook perfect orderly retreat.

Current Plan is to move nazis from Donetsk and get defendable positions everywhere and watch how Europe self-destruct this winter.
Some speculate that operation can be upgraded to anti-terrorist status which allows bombing ukrainian civilian infrastructure. But it seems it is not going to happen for now.

Listening to Russian intercepted phone calls, Russian soldiers are complaing they are getting their asses kicked and are dying almost helpless against the Ukranians. They are fleeing on foot or stolen cars or bicycles because moving tanks are being destroyed by drones, NLAWS and javelins. The Russians are leaving behind a rich harvest of tanks, artillery and munitions. And mass graves of deade civilians that were executed.

Не знал что ты говоришь по русски. гуд фор ю!

In other news,
Curious case of mistaken ethnicity happened in France. Pro-ukrainian ukrainians mistake each other for being russian and beat each other. Well, not each other, one pro-ukrainian ukrainian dude have beaten two ukrainian women for singing anti-russian song on the street.
Speaking of singing. Ukrainian singers complain that their concerts in Europe gets cancelled and the reason given is that they (ukrainians) are fascists, go figure.

Nah. I give the invaders 6 months. Europe will survive the winter without Russian gas. They've built up reserves. They are finding other sources of energy. This winter will be tight and uncomfortable, but they'll be fine. Again, next year bigger problem. Hopefully they've learned what the Eastern Europeans have learned a long time ago, never trust Russia. You're not going to be able to black mail Europe for long. Then the second huge issue is China. China owns Russia now. You use to be able to sell gas to Europeans at wildly profitable margins. China owes you now. They are buying your gas, but at a 50% discount. You're still making wild money, but not nearly as much as the rest of the gas producers (including the US). But here's the thing, China doesn't tolerate incompetence. They don't really like the west either. But watching your soldiers get their asses handed to them by a much smaller defending force doesn't bode well for Russia. I'm hearing that Russia will be open to some kind of compromise that will probably greatly benefit Ukraine in 6 months. The west will help rebuild Ukraine. No problem. They've suffered greatly. But their future is bright. Russia is becoming another North Korea. And one that will be increasingly controlled by China.

Russia had $340 billion in monetary reserves stashed in various banks in the West. That will be conficated and given to Ukraine in partial recompensation to rebuild Ukraine.

LOL. So Russia left the land willingly and deliberately, but Ukraine took "heavy losses" taking land devoid of enemy troops and against NO Russian resistance?

And you... you actually believe that?!:ROFLMAO: I mean, no Russian stooge has ever been shown to not be stupid, gullible, and/or abjectly immoral. I had you pegged as merely the last one, but dang... You're aiming for a hat trick on this one.

You must explain this to me. How in the world did Russian propaganda convince you of this ridiculous fabrication? Is it high quality, fact based Russian reporting (lol), or is it merely that you lack any and all capability to identify utterly stupid drivel and transparent lies?

Why are you suddenly sounding like an extra from lock stock?

"I know that today's era is not an era of war, and I have spoken to you on the phone about this," Modi told Putin on the sidelines of a regional security bloc summit in Uzbekistan, adding that democracy, diplomacy and dialogue keep the world together.

In public, no less.

I hope so. Last I heard there was no legal way to do this. Perhaps if they are labeled a terrorist state.
Legal? I don't think that is an issue. Was it legal to seize yachts? It's not like we're invading and murdering civilians which is what the Putinistas are doing.

This is good news. Proxy occupiers will be running away soon too.

Multiple Pro-Russian Officials Killed in Single Day Across Ukraine

On Friday morning, authorities said Ukraine struck government buildings in the occupied Kherson region at least five times using U.S.-supplied High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS), killing at least one person and wounding others.

Ekaterina Gubareva, the deputy head of the Russian-installed administration in Kherson, said that at the time of the strike, a meeting was underway between the heads of the city and municipal districts.

She called the attack "a vile act of terrorism" and said the head of the labor department was injured, and her driver died.

The region has been under Russian control since the beginning of March. However, Ukraine is waging a counteroffensive in the region, and has had success in another counterattack in the Kharkiv area in the northeast of the country.

Elsewhere on Friday, on the other side of the country, Sergei Gorenko, the prosecutor general of the Russian-backed self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) in eastern Ukraine and Ekaterina Steglenko, his deputy, were killed by a bomb blast at their offices, Russia's state-run news agency Interfax reported, citing emergency services.

I wouldn't be too hard on old barbos. By this time I am convinced it is quite impossible for him to know any better.

Vladimir Putin's motorcade was attacked with explosives during a recent journey, unverified reports from Telegram have claimed. According to the General SVR Telegram channel, purportedly run by a Kremlin insider, one car blocked the front vehicle in Putin's motorcade, whilst another car drove around the motorcade and dropped an explosive on the vehicle carrying the Russian President. General SVR explained: "On the way to the residence, a few kilometers away, the first escort car was blocked by an ambulance, the second escort car drove around without stopping, a sudden obstacle, and while driving around the obstacle, the third car, in which Putin was, a loud bang sounded from the left front wheel followed by heavy smoke." The report claims that despite the explosion, the car carrying Putin managed to reach its destination. However, it adds that "the investigation into the incident and all information on it is classified".
General SVR is not a reliable source. It's "predictions" include claims that Putin has both cancer and Parkinson's, and that he and Shoigu take part in shamanistic rituals to win the war. That description of events sounds like something I may have seen in a heist movie.
Naothing on CNN.
