There's so much good info on why the superpowers are doing what they are doing. One interesting comment stuck out. That Russia under the Tsar's spent a lot of effort on trying to stamp out Ukrainian nationhood and denying their national identity. And that now Putin has picked up this and is running with it again.
She also talks about Putin's long term goal. Basically, Putin has fucked himself over. He's doomed Russia to decades of economic decline. There's no walking back from that. But what's worse is that he's doomed, the entire world to slower economic progress. Because now the cold war is back, and we have to start ramping up military build up to contain Russian agression. He's fucked everyone over. And for what? Controlling territories is no longer the engine to economic prosperity. That's an outdated way to look at it. So the Ukraine war was not only a complete waste of time for Russia, but also just a big cost for everyone. So fuck Putin.

That was an interesting listen. Yea, I think that Putin has screwed Russia for a generation or longer. Russia is stuck in this old time imperialistic 18th century thinking that assumes that conquering land, raping women, and stealing children is the road to power. But power today is an economy that creates nimble workers adept at working in tech. Power are countries that create and attract high tech workers who want to colloborate and grow and economy. Countries are backing away from Russia. Russia can't even compete in the Olympics and other type of events. Yep, North Korea and China are boosting them up. But China is gaining leverage over Russia and now dictates what it wants from Russia. Good article below on this:
