I would have made the second half of the panel different. I would have had the gay guy hold up a copy of the Bible while saying "It's not me saying that Christians are a bunch of vile savages, it's this book!"

Nah, it's just a desperation move from all those who get their beliefs from the Wholly Babble. They want to believe that free thinking doesn't actually exist, just rote repetition. That way they can pretend their Books are better than the Library.
