It was me.
We were going to restage our wedding, re-make our vows. 30th anniversary and all that.
Made all the arrangements, invited the family. At the last minute she broke her ankle and didn't want to bother.
I figured, we've already paid for the reception...

I would say the likeliest scenario is that the number in the meme is just made-up bullshit.... people marrying pet rocks... polygamists... there are myriad possible reasons.
