Now I'll try again with a picture from my hard disk drive:

- I click the INSERT IMAGE icon.

- I click the BROWSE button.

- I browse my HDD until I come across a JPEG I like.

- There's no OK button to click, so I don't see any way to post the picture I've selected.

ETA: Okay, there's a line of text below the BROWSE button. It's not a button, but if I click on it anyway, I get an error message (my picture's too big) that tells me I'm on the right track.

ETA: Trying again, having reduced the size of the picture:

Nope, still way too big.

Got to the point where I just wanted to see the picture here, so I posted it to Facebook, and pasted the URL here, as per the first set of instructions above.

It's interesting, worth clicking thru to see larger version.
