So you don't like the way things are prioritized. I doubt there is anything you can do about it, I don't know what to tell ya.

And yes, I am in favor of illegals being deported. We have laws against illegal immigration for good reasons and those laws need to be enforced. Currently, I take issue with how and where those laws are being enforced.

I'm not aware of any deliveries at 1am, but on multiple occasions they have offered me a 4am-8am delivery slot. I can easily see 1am deliveries being a thing--your package is there when you get up, the wider the night delivery time the more such deliveries get made.

I think Loren is married to a slant. Maybe he can rate the offensiveness of “Ziprhead” for us. Our looney did have the common courtesy to remove an “e” and a “p” from “zipper head” prior to use. I've heard of "slant" being a slur but I've never actually seen it as such in a racist context. (I have seen it in the context of being shady.)

I was not aware that zipperhead was a term at all, I figured it was a character from somewhere and never thought about it.

And, likewise, I'm aware of "Chink" as a slur but have never seen it as such, only as a little hole unwanted things can get through. And the only context I've seen "Japs" being derogatory is in WWII context--wartime enemies often get derogatory names.

In my life, I recall exactly one reference to a "zipperhead", namely from a Wizard of Oz spinoff, wherein the character literally had a zippered head with the brain removed.

I don't recall any reference, but that is the basic idea that came to mind: a character with a zipper on their head for access to their brain. I didn't specifically think of it in the context of removing said brain.

One other thing to note is an interesting phenomena wherein certain things (most of which are not understood in modern terms as slurs) are only known as slurs by people most prone to either using them or seeming as if they would like to.

Very Fine People seem to all just have a slur dictionary they are up to speed on (despite the dictionary itself being from 1820, apparently).

I suspect age has something to do with it. I am of an age that most of those I knew as old terms to be avoided as racial descriptions. This isn't a Very Fine People thing, it's a matter of recognizing that just because you see it doesn't mean you should use it. They are dead enough by now I can easily see this falling aside as not relevant anymore.

I frequently order deliveries for the 4am to 8am slot. Its very convenient for me, as I'm an early riser anyway. There doesn't seem to be deliveries in my area between 11pm and 4pm, AFAIK.

ETA: According to AI (Gemini), Amazon is not even supposed to deliver in the middle of the night, except on very rare occassions. Which makes this whole incident kinda suspicious. Escpecially at the beginning where there is no time stamp when you see the driver delivering.

Yes, we dislike the prioritizing.

1) They're going after blue states, not after the states with the biggest "problem".

2) They're going about it in a dumb way. Clearly they turned an AI loose and then didn't verify what it said.

3) Deny due process to any group and you have denied due process to everyone as you can simply declare them a member of the group that doesn't get due process.

4) They're very willing to use deadly force in situations that do not remotely warrant it. There's no element of self defense in any of their acts, thus they are murders. And when you have an organization that's fine with murder you have a very big problem.

Florida, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama are all states with far, far more illegal immigrants than Maine. Peculiar. I wonder what all those states have in common.

Well, regardless of your political feelings, what they have in common is that all of them actively cooperate with ICE, they hold illegal aliens that they've apprehended for ICE to pick up and deport in the appropriate fashion, and they share information with ICE so that the feds can do their job. It's rather a stark comparison to sanctuary cities/states that actively seek to block ICE from doing their jobs, and refuse to hold or turn over illegal aliens who have committed crimes.

There's a ton of room for differing perspectives on what guidelines should be in place for legal immigration. There's plenty of room for different views on how easy or difficult it should be to secure permanent residency of citizenship status.

But I used to think that respect for and fair enforcement of federal law was something all reasonable people agreed on.

I won’t even attempt to do the reprogramming necessary.

But let me tell you this: people I love have been living in a domestic war zone thanks to Trump and a great big bat of xenophobia dressed liberally with lies. I know people who, for months, have been afraid to leave their homes or to send their young children to school without their passports.

The lawless in this situation is ICE and the Trump Administration who are as we speak buying up warehouses for more interment camps. July like the Nazis they admire. Or just like we did for the Japanese during WWII? Or the ‘Indian schools?’.
