It'd be nice when adults stopped acting like toddlers

When my four year old doesn't get things her way, she sometimes gets angry and yells.

Meanwhile with adults in St. Louis:
article said:
A motorist has been arrested after allegedly driving into a group of transgender women who were protesting over the police shooting of one of their friends.

...

Reports said more than 100 people had gathered to protest over the shooting of 30-year-old Kenneth “Kiwi” Herring. The mother-of-three had been shot and killed by police the day before, after officers said she cut an officer with a knife.

...

“A vehicle approached, stopped, honked its horn and attempted to drive around the protesters,” police said in a statement.
“The protesters surrounded the vehicle and began striking it with their hands and a flag pole. Several protesters also kicked and jumped on top of the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle...proceeded to drive away when three protesters...fell from the vehicle.”

....

But the St Louis Post-Dispatch quoted a witness identified as Keith Rose, who said the driver had his middle fingers raised before accelerating through the group.

The report said the witness, who was in the group of protesters, said the driver stopped for a few seconds “before accelerating gradually and driving into the group”.
Everyone seems to think they are entitled to be an asshole.

This is textbook identity politics. These trannies are protesting because a fellow tranny got herself(?) shot, and not because there was any wrongdoing by police. You attack police with a knife, you will probably get shot, regardless of what pronouns you use this week.

I think the driver is perfectly entitled to use reasonable force to extricate himself from this situation. That he was arrested is ridiculous. The protesters who assaulted him should be arrested.

P.S.: Calling her a "mother" is a bit ridiculous. Where did the fetus gestate? Did she keep it in a box? Regardless of any gender reassignment, the parent contributing the sperm cell to the fertilization is father, not mother.

The protesters were actually attacking the car? They actually leaped onto and and were smashing at it with a flag pole?

What should the guy in the car have done? Was there room for him to back up and go the other way? But they were literally standing on his car, right?

Seems to me he did what he had to do to save himself from an angry mob.

If the situation was reversed and trans-haters were jumping on a car with the driver in it and smashing it with a flag pole, would anybody's answer be different as to if the driver did wrong?

You are taking the word of the police without any independent verification.

Again, you are taking the report by the police as accurate even though there is a reported witness whose account significantly differs from the report from the police.

At this juncture in time, jumping to conclusions is premature. IMO, the main point that many people feel they are entitled to be an asshole. That includes those who feel they can engage in vandalism to vehicles and those who feel they can ram people with their vehicle for no good reason.

Ya, I don't really fault the driver here. He tried to go around him and they surrounded his car and jumped on top of it. I'd hit the gas to get away from them in that situation as well.

I hope that the protesters gave him their insurance information so he's not stuck with the cost of cleaning any of their blood off of his car.

I like how the reporter mentions he had his middle finger out, as if that somehow excuses the mob. I also notice no mention of the protesters being arrested for attacking the car, and only the driver being arrested for accelerating slowly through the mob.

I think most people would take that as a sign that his driving through the mob was a deliberate act not one of avoidance of harm. Especially in view of the rest of the testimony of that witness.

Whether it is true or not is a different question.

I think adoption proves that one doesn't have to be a biological parent to be considered a parent of a child. Therefore, a transgender person can be a parent, with the word "mother" or "father" applying to their gender identity. Is this controversial? Or are you just being bigoted against transgender people?

The cop who was slashed was treated for his injuries. His wound is independent verification.

This photo shows protesters surround the car. The guy in the black t-shirt is seen hitting the hood of the Mercedes.

So yes, I find that account much more credible.

I do not think people should ram people with their vehicle for no good reason. When you are surrounded by an angry mob attacking you you have a good reason.

I am not being bigoted, I just feel biology is important.

Hey, seeing trigger phrases outside of one's safe space can cause a great deal of anxiety and discomfort. You're the true bigot for calling out the bigotry here.

Why? If she wants to call herself a mother instead of a father, how does that impact anything at all? In what way does biology become an important factor here?

She was also slashed.

And you know this is before the alleged ramming incident because....?
I do not think people should ram people with their vehicle for no good reason. When you are surrounded by an angry mob attacking you you have a good reason.
And you would know they are attacking you vs just damaging your car because....?

The protesters were actually attacking the car?
Attacking?
They actually leaped onto and and were smashing at it with a flag pole?
Smashing?

What should the guy in the car have done?
Turned around when it became clear they weren't giving way?
Was there room for him to back up and go the other way? But they were literally standing on his car, right?
They didn't magically appear on his car. There was time before he came onto the site and people were surrounding his car.

Seems to me he did what he had to do to save himself from an angry mob.
Angry mob? See, this is what I'm talking about. We have a situation where a driver was being an ass once people were being asses to him, and each side just raises the bar in assness, until, he drives through them in the ultimate moment of assness. And all you can think about is this guy's life being in danger.

If the situation was reversed and trans-haters were jumping on a car with the driver in it and smashing it with a flag pole, would anybody's answer be different as to if the driver did wrong?
I'm saying both sides were wrong in this case.

I like how the reporter mentions he had his middle finger out, as if that somehow excuses the mob.
Okay, you lose your Context License. The implication of a middle finger is the guy is not scared and his act was one of aggression... "Fuck you, I'm driving through you." It does not justify what the people were doing around the car.
I also notice no mention of the protesters being arrested for attacking the car, and only the driver being arrested for accelerating slowly through the mob.
Well, the term "attacking" is quite loaded. If there was enough damage, certainly something would have been done about vandalism.

Yes. They were attacking the vehicle. Striking a vehicle with your hands and a flag pole is an attack. It is also brazen vandalism.

How much damage is "enough"? Striking your car with my fists and a flag pole, with you inside, with the clear intent of intimidation is assault. The driver tried to drive around them before finally giving up and slowly accelerating through them. They only have themselves to blame for that.

Now, had he deliberately driven at them and mowed them down, like in the other recent case, then it'd be all on the driver. But according to the article, that isn't what happened here. And just because they are trans doesn't mean they should get special treatment.

Well, I suppose if you want to render the word meaningless, okay.

Enough to warrant charges. There are laws that exist that determine these things.
Striking your car with my fists and a flag pole, with you inside, with the clear intent of intimidation is assault.
Battery?
The driver tried to drive around them before finally giving up and slowly accelerating through them. They only have themselves to blame for that.
I think they all have themselves to blame.

I don't recall bringing that up as a justification for anything. But whatever makes you want to say acting like an asshole is okay as long as people lay a hand on your car.

That is ridiculous. This driver made a choice. He did not have to drive into the crowd in the first place to put himself into that situation. He could have waited for the police or until it was clear he was in danger (instead of his car).

I agree that the vandals are not innocent victims.
Now, had he deliberately driven at them and mowed them down, like in the other recent case, then it'd be all on the driver. But according to the article, that isn't what happened here.
Actually according to one witness in the article, he did deliberately with malice drive into them. But you prefer to jump to the conclusion to blame the victims.

Wow, all the hyperbole describing this incident is interesting. Smashing, charging, angry, ...

The majority of persons are clearly facing the car and some are very much next to it. One or two may be touching it. One or two may be leaning on the vehicle. One or two may be upset about something that happened. No one is running, no one is punching, no one yelling, no one crunching, crashing, or molesting.

They seem to be rather tepid, inquisitive, transgender zombies who are approaching the vehicle for a reason and probably some are confronting the driver.

Reason for doing so is unclear.
