Jerusalem Gay Pride: Six stabbed 'by ultra-Orthodox Jew'

Does it ever occur to you that you're a bigot? The reason I ask is that you seem to be insulting me for having a different opinion to your own, and it's what bigots do. Liberal zealots often forget that bigotry is a 2-way street.

You are being insulted for the content of your "opinion" and for your behaviour, not because you hold a different view.

Liberal zealots often forget that bigotry is a 2-way street.
That doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense.
In what way is bigotry a 2-way street?

Are you saying you wouldn't be bigoted against gays unless gays were also/already bigoted against you?
Or is it the bigotry of liberal zealots that make you a bigot against homosexuals?

Where's the reciprocation in this dynamic? What bigotry is required in order to make you a bigot?

I would hope that everyone would not even have to forget something that is so ridiculously stupid and false: bigotry is not necessarily a 2 way street.

Let's be clear, I was making a point about how people talking such trash are giant fucking hypocrites. It isnt bigotry to state plain and true facts, particularly ones that neither mislead or mince words.

Straight people can, do, and are entirely entitled to enjoy their relationships and sexuality in a public way. And gay people are just as entitled to do so as well.

Saying 'don't be gay in public' and trying to hand wave the bigotry away by saying 'nobody wants to see it from heteros either' is bullshit. You aren't fooling anyone with that crap except maybe yourself, though I seriously doubt it.

My POINT was that we live in a culture where straightness is about as ubiquitous as AIR, and you freaking out and condemning gay people to horrific deaths over their decision to wear some tacky black leather chaps is uncalled for and I would say it goes well into the territory of 'disgusting' and even 'vile'.

Well it doesn't surprise me that I'm not 'flavour of the month' where homosexuals are concerned! What is notable though, is that despite multiple requests nobody has yet give me an example of my perceived homophobia. So - anyone?? No hurry, I won't be holding my breath!

I did, actually. Post #75. You're welcome.

Let's get in order. A small minority of LGBT people behave like -- as you put it -- "freaks" at some pride parades which occur in a very limited time frame in fairly small areas of impact. Those "freaks" aren't actually harming anyone, though they do offend some.

People not behaving freaky get stabbed at a pride parade, yet somehow, based on that minority of LGBT people who are over the top at other parades, they should have expected to be targeted by extremists. You've formed a prejudice and then used it to partially blame the victims of a violent crime who did not match your prejudice in the first place. Even if they had met your 'freak' criteria, they'd have been causing no harm and provoking no one to murder and extreme violence.

Worse than that, the idea that it's the 'flaunting' which attracted the disturbed attacker rather than the attacker was violently anti-lgbt from the outset (whether they were in parades or not) is so mind-numbingly fucking idiotic I am deeply embarrassed for you that you even thought to write such incoherent bullshit.

Fear, hatred, or mistrust of lesbians and gay men.

http://www.thefreedictionary.com/homophobic

At no time have I expressed fear, hatred, or mistrust of homosexuals, and certainly not lesbians, with whom I have no problem. Everything else I've said is subjective. What is happening here is a concerted attempt to mischievously accuse me of homophobia . . . even though I've said on this very thread that I wish them well in finding 'the love of their lives' - remember that? What you really don't like is my exposing the disgusting thing you do in the name of 'love-making', and I think you should have the honesty - especially dystopian' - to recognise my point of view, viz. that contrary to what you want, not everybody 'celebrates' it, and I'm finding out how unpleasant and insulting you are to those who don't. As for my assertion that 'bigotry is a 2-way street' - there's more bigotry coming from you than from me, because I'm perfectly prepared to accept what you're saying without er, hatred(?), and harbour no antagonism - certainly not hatred - toward homosexuals whatsoever. A couple of years ago I had a hernia repair; the surgeon was a homosexual. I subsequently wrote to him to thank him for doing a great job for me, and wished him well. You're the bigots, not me!

Oh and by the way - I'm an atheist.

At no time have I expressed fear, hatred, or mistrust of homosexuals,
What, you think you have to express those exact words in order to qualify?
If you just look hateful, it doesn't count if you say the right words to pretend not to be?

So you're making up your own definitions now are you? Fuck off troll - and stop sending neg reps with puerile comments. Thank you.

At no time have I expressed fear, hatred, or mistrust of homosexuals,

You did, by stating they're freaks.

and certainly not lesbians, with whom I have no problem.

Why am I not surprised?

Also, you do realize that lesbians are, by definition, homosexual, right?

Everything else I've said is subjective.

No shit.

What is happening here is a concerted attempt to mischievously accuse me of homophobia . . .

No, it's a non-concerted open declaration thereof.

even though I've said on this very thread that I wish them well in finding 'the love of their lives' - remember that? What you really don't like is my exposing the disgusting thing you do in the name of 'love-making',

First of all... the "disgusting thing YOU do in the name of love-making"?

I don't recall saying anything about my own sexuality.

Secondly, one can be both a homophobe and declare (or even believe) that they deserve happiness.

and I think you should have the honesty - especially dystopian' - to recognise my point of view, viz. that contrary to what you want, not everybody 'celebrates' it, and I'm finding out how unpleasant and insulting you are to those who don't.

You DO understand that we recognize your point of view, right? Recognizing your point of view doesn't mean we can't express our own point of view in regards to the nature of yours. Also, keep in mind that I have not, in fact, insulted you in this thread. Of the two of us you're the only one who has referred to others using a term traditionally used as an insult. Oh certainly, I have described you in terms *you* obviously find insulting... but then there's things you've said we obviously find insulting/homophobic, which you fail to accept; none of the words I've used to refer to you are words commonly used as insults.

As for my assertion that 'bigotry is a 2-way street' - there's more bigotry coming from you than from me, because I'm perfectly prepared to accept what you're saying without er, hatred(?), and harbour no antagonism - certainly not hatred - toward homosexuals whatsoever.

I don't know what's more absurd; that you expect us to believe this; or that you apparently believe it yourself.

A couple of years ago I had a hernia repair; the surgeon was a homosexual. I subsequently wrote to him to thank him for doing a great job for me, and wished him well. You're the bigots, not me!

"That's right! I'm super tolerant and progressive! I'm not a bigot! Why one time I had to go in for a surgery and the surgeon was one of them HOMOSEXUALS! Well! I COULD have just said 'NO! I refuse to be helped by you! I'll keep on suffering! Better than to be helped by one of the gays!', but I didn't, did I?"

Again, I have to question your blatant lack of self-awareness when you open your mouth. Having your surgeon be gay doesn't make you not a bigot. In fact, how you deliberately made a point of your surgeon being gay rather suggests the exact opposite. The rest of us wouldn't bother to remember the sexuality of a surgeon who operated on us years ago (or yesterday, for that matter); it is so completely irrelevant that it doesn't even register. Actually, how did you even know that he was gay to begin with? I can't imagine a scenario where that would be something he'd think was relevant to tell you.

Oh and by the way - I'm an atheist.

Congratulations; what the fuck does that have to do with anything?

Just so you know I'm not one of 'the homosexual act is an abomination' crowd - not that I don't agree with 'em!!

Incidentally, for someone who insists he isn't 'gay', you seem to know an awful lot about what they get up to in the privacy of their bedrooms.

This fact prompts me to ask the question you put to me (paraphrased): 'Is there something you want to share with us?' And here's a supplemental: 'Are you a voyeur or a fantasist . . . or both?'
