Sorry if a thread on this already exists.

Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) is accused of failing to report child molestation by the wrestling team doctor when he was a wrestling coach. So far, 7 former wrestlers have come forward and said that Jim Jordan knew about the allegations and did not report to the police, which would be a crime on Jordan's part.

So how does this man from the Party of Personal Responsibility[ent]trade[/ent] respond to this? With wacky conspiracy theories about the "deep state," of course!

[conservolibertarian] Democrats are exactly as bad because Hillary was selling child sex slaves out of the basement of that pizza restaurant that doesn't have a basement! [/conservolibertarian]

I figured I would get the first "whataboutism" tu quoque fallacy out before any of the usual rightists do.

Awaiting Fox News reporting the similarities of this case to that of Dennis Hastert (D).

...

And then the very unnoticeable retraction down the road.

There's no reason to expect libertarians to jump to the defense of a Republican.

I wouldn't expect a libertarian to jump to the defense of anyone but themselves.

And yet many do. Funny how that works.

This happened at a college. How is it "child molestation"?

I stand corrected, then.

At this point it doesn't really matter whether the charges are true, which they probably are.

Consider what's happened here. Seven former players accuse their coach of dereliction of duty, and he accuses them of political motivations.

I know a lot of former athletes and quite a few coaches. For the most part, athletes have a special reverence for their coaches and keep this feeling all of their lives.

Let's suppose Jim Jordan is telling the truth, and he never knew the team doctor was diddling athletes. This means that Coach Jim has at least seven former players who hate him so much, they will fabricate lies in order to damage him and his reputation, decades later.

He would be better off to plead stupidity and say, "I saw the signs and didn't understand what was happening, mainly because I couldn't believe such a thing could be happening."
