Jo Jorgensen, I'm With Her

"I'm with her" was not HRC's campaign motto. "Stronger Together" was.

"I'm with her" may not have been an official campaign slogan, but it was a t-shirt.
Of course so was "I'm with stupid" with the finger below pointing left or right. That would seem more apt for the libberpublicans.

Who is triggered? I just think it's kind of dumb.

Who is triggered? The second article I linked has direct quotes.

Okay, so seventeen people on Twitter, only two of whom seem especially angry.

Yeah, they found the whole 17 people in the whole of the United States who made reaction comments.

That you even implied that argument makes me embarrassed on your behalf. It is a very stupid argument.

In fairness, it isn't Jo's slogan either, just a hastag game to drum up interest. Her slogan is "Break Free from Big Government". A bit on the nose, if you ask me, but there you go.

It's such a mystery why people consider libertarians to be irrelevant.
Irrelevant? Are you sure you don't mean relevant?

The Libertarian Party is not very politically relevant. Its candidates have had very little electoral success, and their Presidential candidates seem like vanity candidates to me.

I find it curious that the Libertarian Party has not gone the way of the Tea Party and Brand New Congress. The Tea Party made its mark on the Republican Party before fading, though BNC has been much less successful. I mention BNC because it was founded by some Bernie Sanders staffers who wanted to run candidates for every available House and Senate seat -- and run them in the two main parties and sometimes as Independents where appropriate. BNC wasn't very successful. In 2018, it supported 30 candidates, 28 Democrats, 1 Republican, and 1 Independent. Of them, 9 Democrats won primaries, and only one of them won a main election - AOC. This year, BNC is supporting 46 candidates, all Democrats.

In fairness to the Libertarian Party, some of its candidates have indeed run as Republicans, but not many. There are some politicians who have switched to the Libertarian Party when in office - mostly Republicans.

Overwhelmingly. Off the top of my head, the only Democrat>Libertarian I can recall was Joseph Stallcop.

Which is funny, really. The Libertarians actually endorse a lot of Democratic ideas. But I guess the remaining differences are deal-breakers for too many.

Come to think of it, the same is true of Socialists and Republicans, a fair amount of agreement in theory but too deep an ideological divide on principal matters of identity.

The problem the Libertarian Party faces is it only appeals to those with a similar mindset and toddlers can't vote.

In the last election, I issued a challenge to my Libertarian friends. Pretend I'm a working class person who works full time, lives paycheck to paycheck, has no savings or property beyond personal possessions. I can't afford medical insurance and I make just enough money that I don't qualify for Medicaid.

Imagine you are facing a room full of people like me. What is your pitch to convince me that the Libertarian candidate will improve my life. So far, no one has accepted the challenge.

Oh, that's easy. They will deregulate everything. This in turn will make you make less money and fall for scams constantly like in the days of snake oil salesmen. BUT your overlords will earn 10x more and so they will trickle that wealth all over you in the form of tips. Your daughters will be able to finally get jobs as sex workers which will increase your family income which you will need and they can get lots of tips, too. And your kids instead of doing distance learning can get jobs at factories. You will all also be cured of coronavirus immediately because once the FDA is dismantled, the magic of the free market will stop the virus from spreading further. You won't even need to stay inside.

That's more than any Libertarian offered. The truth is, they know better than to peddle their special brand of crazy to working class people.
