Kanye West Anti Jewish Speech

Kanye West is an idiot.

Why does anyone care about what he says about anything?

Is it because Kim made Jenner his sister or something?

I think Kim Kardashian is an alien with mind control powers over mere humans. She's the Queen of the Annunaki Illuminati. That birch has a hot tub party on the far side of the moon. Invitation Only.

Putin, Trump, and Xi are all fighting for the last seat on her XSpace death star.
The one with the Hot Tub.
They've all got nukes and don't have to care about the rest of us. But Musk already sold the good seats. So they are fighting over the remnants of the Human Family and the remaining wealth. They know how soon a gallon of hooch will be worth more than Microsoft.

Been listening to Coast to Coast again, I see.

Could someone refresh my memory?

Is Adidas the shoe company that paid Michael Jordan $20M for wearing the shoes for 5 years, while paying the entire staff of Indonesian kids who made the shoes $5M during the same 5 years?

Was that Adidas or someone else? American shoe companies all look alike to me.

Same one. But for some reason a lot of Reich wingers are now going to burn Adidas gear because apparently trans national corporations have the capacity to athropomorphise into becoming woke. Everyone else can see it as the cynical Nike/Kaepernick-esque marketing strategy it is.

Apologies to Stephen Crowder/Jordan Peterson etc for using the term trans.

Kanye is an idiot. If you listen to the interviews he's comparing the Holocaust to black abortion rates to argue that there is a black Holocaust going on right now. People are making a major deal out of Kanye's comments for the wrong reason for example Steve claiming blacks can be oppressive. While individual black people can be oppressive using Kanye's argument as a case in point for it is racist as fuck. Kanye's argument to put it simply is a stupid one. You don't need to bring the holocaust into the discussion of abortion rates amongst blacks. Those numbers speak for themselves. He's also a Christian that is anti abortion and has the usual Christian arguments against it. Nothing special about Kanye, and to claim black folks are going to collectively rally around this guy is silly (and racist). We have our own individual opinions of this guy just like any other race. If anything you may as well say a whole bunch of white people will rally around Kanye because that's the demographic he makes the most money from.
I have heard abortion called a holocaust for black people (or people), usually by people who consider themselves devout Christian. That's not new, although West is the first time I can remember someone of his celebrity specifically saying this in public. I mostly agree with what you wrote however, it seems that you are not addressing the fact that West has enormous influence--not specifically or only among (some) black people but among some people of many different skin colors/backgrounds. If I were to say the things that West has been saying, nobody would notice. At. All. Just as people were outraged at some of the horrific things that Donald Trump said as POTUS, what made it so outrageous was that he was a person of power and influence. West and Trump both have used their positions/platforms to say horrific things about groups of people.

Many people in many positions have a lot of power and influence via their platform/audience: teachers, preachers, famous people, politicians. The right wing is extremely upset that some teachers may teach something in their classrooms that some parent(s) or community members or someone with a lot of time on their hands and a keyboard and internet connection objects to.

The unfortunate thing is that antisemitism has been increasing and West's remarks seem to be connected with an uptick in the number of incidents. This is every bit as reprehensible as Trump's remarks about Mexicans being rapists or criminals, that police should engage in casual brutality, etc.

I don't believe that when Trump or West or JK Rowlings or anybody else expresses callous sentiments directed towards any demographic that it causes an increase in hatred or bigotry. I do think that it gives permission for some people to express such sentiments and in louder, more crass and even physical ways.

My personal opinion of West, based on the small amount I have read/heard about him lately: He is in serious need of some serious mental health help. Urgently. That doesn't make him evil or terrible or bad but he does seem to have gone off the rail in some respects. He's enormously talented--it would be terrible for his legacy to be wiped out by recent behavior.

I just read the Ye walked into Sketchers with a film crew ro look for a deal. They showed him the door.

Kanye (like Trump) doesn't have a monopoly on influence. I agree with many other things you said (on my phone plus never able to do a Bomb#20 level response but the black community has an extremely dynamic influence. I'll leave it at that.

By influence I mean source of influences. Sorry out celebrating my wife's coworker earning $40 an hour at Casco. 😁

It goes to show even the blacks ...

We are extrapolating from one (1) incident by one (1) black guy to make a generic statement about blacks? :confused2:
And not just adding a flippant non sequitur to an existing already-deranged thread, but starting a thread to make this "point"? :confused2:

This is not on the path to enlightenment.

Sounds like a really good time! Hope you had a lot of fun and congrats to your wife's co-worker.

Absolutely they are not the only ones with (imho outsized) influence. One of the reasons I included JK Rowling in my post upthread. We don't know if this will blow over for West, as expressing virulent antisemitism has seemingly mostly blown over for Mel Gibson. I would argue that Gibson's unpopular and ugly words were before Trump and the current rise in antisemitism that we are seeing now. I think 8 years ago, most of us would not have predicted the US electing as POTUS a man who expressed such ugly and hate-filled thoughts and opinions. But we did and we can easily see how Trump's words and actions at the very least coincided with an uptick in a lot of extremely intolerant behavior, to say the least. I don't think Trump caused racism or sexism or anti-progressive bigotry but I do think that he is a symptom and an amplifier of those things. Having someone who millions of people respect, admire and look up to give voice to ugly, intolerant views gives permission to others to express similar thoughts--and to commit some awful deeds. I'm hopeful that Trump will soon be charged and 'cancelled' but I fear that this last gasp of white supremacy still has some oxygen.

It seems apparent to me that West has some very serious mental health issues and I genuinely truly hope that he gets effective help with those. I have no idea if his recent anti semitic remarks are new or if they are only now getting press because in general his mental health issues have made the news of late. I don't know if they are connected to the fact that Pete Davidson is part Jewish. I don't know any of that. I'm the wrong generation to be that tuned into Kanye West.

First off, I need to get a job at this "Casco." I'm doing well, but not $40 an hour well!

As far as Trump goes, he's been in an information silo since he was a child, and what we're seeing now is him dealing with something he's utterly unfamiliar with: people telling him "no." He's never really suffered any serious consequences from being a sexist, racist asshole. He's gone bankrupt a few times, but that's just business. In his personal life, there's always been another wife, another sycophant, another lawyer, and another grifter at the ready to tell him he's a great guy.

Kanye? I can't diagnose his mental illness, but there is something that feels familiar. When I landed my gig producing a morning show 25 years ago (jeez, really?) The co-hosts were very different from each other...which was why we worked so well together. One was methodical, organized, and ambitious. The other was mercurial, creative, and had the attention span of a toddler. I was somewhere in between. But there was something else at work. The former was a guy like me who grew up at the lower end of the middle class. The latter was "old money." When they moved up to the big time and signed a million dollar contract, things changed.

The middle class guy became very full of himself. The old money guy was the same as he'd always been. I'd heard some chatter about the former's ego over the years and dismissed it, but when we had a station reunion I got to experience it first hand. He was kind of an asshole. I'd guess something similar is going on with Kanye. Throw a lot of money at some kid who has no idea how to cope with it - athlete, rock star, movie actor - and your results may vary.

I just read the Ye walked into Sketchers with a film crew ro look for a deal. They showed him the door.
Yea, some of the articles are pointing out that Sketchers is founded and owned by a Jewish family. Founded by Robert and Michael Greenburg.

I hope someone releases videos of him being escorted out.

The black community isn't a hivemind, no, but he certainly has a larger social media influence than say a Charles Barkley. There is an ugly normalization of bigotry occurring and anti-Semitism, beyond my worst nightmares, is growing again, especially regarding it's public face. Luckily he has lost billions in future sales because of his, whatever the fuck this is. He latest Tweet... my fucking gawd.

"I lost 2 Billion dollars in one and I'm still alive".

After posting anti-Semitic content... which as we remember several million Jews didn't survive, and those that did, lost everything. I'm all for cancelling anti-Semitism!

Really. That's your proof of his influence on the black community? You do know that Kanye's wealth comes mostly from white people right?
He has influence, it is a true statement. Accept it. I'm not requiring the black community to renounce him. I'm saying his words carry weight, and his words normalize a state of mind led to the executions of millions of Jewish people in WWII.

Social media influence... How is that measured anyway? By how many people hit like and share you're tweets? It's easy to find black people that have a bigger following on twitter and Facebook that don't side with Kanye on many things but somehow Kanye is leading a revaluation of sorts within the black community at a level worthy of concern.

Antisemetic black people have been around long before Ye. Hell I'll go as far as to claim they might have been around long before Islam reached them as slaves in America, because I doubt they could tell Jews apart from their oppressors.

I honestly do NOT care whether West's primary influence is with white, black, Asian or hispanic peoples or any combination thereof. He does carry a lot of influence among his fans. And---this is true of many people, among those people who hear/read his words and find an ally/kindred spirit/justification for their own prejudices, bigotries and pov's (which we all have, btw).

I'm totally the wrong age to be familiar with his body of work or to be much of a fan of most of the genre--my limitations, of course. I cannot speak to how his words resonate with anyone. But they seem to, as does his image.

Mostly, at this point, I feel very sorry for him and wish someone cared enough about him to get him the help he seems to desperately need.

That does not mean that I am not furious at the antisemitism just as I am furious at the racism and other bigotries promoted by Trump and his ilk. Furious, sick to my stomach, sick at heart. It's beyond reprehensible. And it's poisonous and contagious. We have got to stop this hatred. I believe it can only be stopped by knowledge, understanding and love and acceptance.

And one way to stop the hate is by not assuming folks agree with Kanye because they are a fan of his music.

I read that West was diagnosed as having bipolar disorder about 5 years ago, although it's likely that he had symptoms long before he was diagnosed. I read that he decided not to take the types of medications that are usually prescribed for this serious mental illness. Having had family members with BPD and having cared for many patients with this disorder, some people with this disease do suffer from serious delusions, while others are able to control their symptoms fairly well. Medications usually help, but it's very common for folks with this disease to stop taking their meds. Let me put it like a former friend did, after she went off her meds and went off the deep end. I mean she really did some extremely dangerous, nutty things. Sadly, her ultra religious family thought she was demon possessed, but I digress. When Mr. Sohy and I saw her in a restaurant back when we lived in SC, we sat with her and asked her what was going on. She said she had gone off of her meds because she loved how it felt being manic. She said it was a better high than any drug. About two weeks later, she was hospitalized.

My point is that we shouldn't take what mentally ill folks say so seriously, especially when they refuse to take medications that will probably help relieve their symptoms to some extent. However, what West said has given more attention to the extreme rise in anti semitism in the US. Perhaps that's the positive side, as people need to know what's going on when it comes to hatred and prejudice.

Ye needs help and the rest of us need to stop giving him so much attention. Mania sometimes seems to be linked to narcissism. At least it appears to be that way when it comes to people like Ye, and Musk, not that I want to think about what will happen to Twitter now that Musk owns it. That line from Ferris Bueller keeps haunting me. "I weep for the future".
