Legal definition of woman is based on biological sex, UK supreme court rules

I have a trans child.
No you don't.
I have two children, both adults.

The elder is trans, he/him pronouns, changed name, planning to undergo a double mastectomy, and can tear up if JK Rowling is mentioned.

The younger is a gay not queer, lesbian who doesn’t do dick, who goes to radical feminist conferences and has her photograph taken with Maya Forstater and Helen Joyce.

I love them both dearly, but Christmas can be a bit fraught.

And you'll keep posting that same thing over and over, no matter what anyone replies.
Says the guy who repeatedly turned down my recommendation for a more productive way to frame your debate. Seanie agreed to it. So if he keeps posting that same thing over and over, that's on you. You have no business charging "no matter what anyone replies" because you haven't tried "no matter what anyone replies" yet.
I’m sorry? How is the content of one poster’s posts the responsibility of any other poster?

People are responsible for their own words and feelings.
Yes, and Poli was ignoring his responsibility for the role his own words played in keeping the "posting that same thing over and over" dynamic going. Speaking of which...

I'll bold the important part.
Sex is binary.
Tom
The categories male and female do not fully describe the sex of humans and some other species.
... your words are keeping it going too. You too could drop the proof-by-blatant-assertion and instead post a link to a clinical description of the individual or syndrome that makes the single strongest case for "true hermaphrodites".

Male and female do describe gametes.
Only metaphorically. Ova are sometimes called "female gametes" and sperm are sometimes called "male gametes", but that's really describing the gametes' parents.

About half of one percent of all humans do not biologically conform to the ‘ideal’ of binary male or female.
The 99.99999995% of all humans who aren't Antonio Banderas or Catherine Zeta-Jones do not biologically conform to the ‘ideal’ of binary male or female. "Ideals" are not the issue in dispute; the issue is whether any living individual either fails to satisfy the criteria for a sex or satisfies the criteria for both. What the people on the "it's a spectrum" side of this interminable Monty Python argument clinic don't seem to grasp is that y'all have burden-of-proof. It's not the job of skeptics to show there are no black swans; it's the job of believers to produce one.

You are so much more polite and calm than I would be under the circumstances.
Tom

Mind you, I think bringing up your relationship with your own kids in support of some argument on an internet forum is very inappropriate.

I have a trans child, and a TERF child, that is just the situation I find myself in.

He brought them up as evidence that he has some real life experience on the subject.

As opposed to you ivory tower activists who "just know" because you read about it in a book by an author you just know is an expert.

I am as baffled by your description of me as an "ivory tower" now as I was the first time you advanced it. You sure love personal attacks, for a guy who supposedly crusades against them.

Was your comment about me not a personal attack?

It certainly wasn’t about an argument I actually made.

Why exactly is it “very inappropriate” for me to say I have child who is trans, when I have child who does indeed identify as trans?

Because he's from a California educational establishment and you
Are not!
How hard is it to understand why @Politesse knows more about this than you possibly could?
Tom

I would probably agree — if we all knew each other IRL.

As it is almost all of us are anonymous strangers typing on the internet. Sometimes we need to talk about something in our real lives that we may not share with our family and friends. Sometimes, disclosing a personal experience or one in our family can help illustrate a point.

Seanie mentioned that he had a trans child.
Jimmy Higgins exact response was
"No you don't".
Did anyone like Politesse point out how inappropriate that was? No! Politesse just thinks that it's inappropriate to bring up real life when it doesn't match his agenda.
Fuck those ivory tower activists.
