Legal definition of woman is based on biological sex, UK supreme court rules

I mean this may be a niche concern, but it has ramifications.

Are there circumstances where we can legitimately discriminate by sex?

So fairness in women’s sports is unimportant to you?
Imputing unlikely beliefs is almost always a fail.

Fairness in sports is a matter of subjective judgement. But the determining factor is always money, not mathematical equivalences, the genetic composition of the performers, or gender bias or the lack thereof.
If a league prohibits asians or genetic males or whatever, and can capture the market, taking it away from the league that will take the best performers without regard to genetics, it will succeed, and so it will be. That’s why it has taken so long for women’s pro sports leagues to become financially viable, and truly profitable. Now, if they want to pull the rug out from under themselves by hiring drag queens or trans women, the “women’s” leagues will prob’ly lose in the long run.
Olympics are no different.

I’d call it simple irresponsible management rather than the outcome of some profound moral quagmire.

Yes. Where it is monetarily profitable to do so.
Sexism sells pretty well.
I’m a little curious tho - does the LPGA for instance, allow trans players?

Perplexity;
“Yes — but with major limits. The LPGA’s updated policy says transgender women may compete in elite LPGA events only if they transitioned before male puberty; transgender women who went through male puberty are barred from those competitions starting in 2025.
Only “elite” events? Sounds a little elitist eh?

It’s curious.

Do you not give the tiniest shit about females having a fair sporting category?
I certainly do. Most of the people who are railing against transgenders in general don't. The exact same people who mocked the US WNT soccer team for wanting equal treatment, from pay to training facilities.

Currently there are roughly as many unicorns in professional women's sports as there are transgenders.

So...

...how are we all feeling about the IOC's decision to reintroduce sex testing to protect fairness in women's sport, by trying to exclude males?
Excellent.

A one-time cheek swab seems like a pretty reasonable approach, and the vast majority of female athletes support it.
