That is what the war is about. So until it is over, STFU.
Nope. The war is about the west trying to destroy Russia using Ukraine.
So far it's been failing spectacularly.
Russia must have a different concept of spectacular failure than the rest of the world. At this point, Russia is on it's knees. Hundreds of thousands of Russian men are dead and it's very likely another hundred thousand will die before it's over. Ukraine can strike Russian assets at will and Russia has no practical defense. Russia has gone from being a world power to being a pathetic helpless giant.

There may not have been a plan to destroy Russia, but that will be the final result.
Bullshit, utter bullshit and flat out lies.
Don't worry, when the war is over, your wartime experience will get you a job selling Teslas in Moscow for Elon Musk.
That's not what I was promised. I was promised governorship of California when war is over.
Putin also promised the war would be over in a few weeks. I wouldn't worry about stocking up on sunscreen.
Putin never promised that, it was General Milley.
Stop propagating lies.

We now know how Jeffrey Goldberg ended up in the Signal chat. His phone number got mistakenly associated with another individual Mike Waltz had intended to add to the chat (Brian Hughes, Trump spokesperson), on Mike's personal iphone. Apparently an email from Jeffrey Goldberg as forwarded by Brian Hughes to Mike Waltz, which contained Jeffrey's email signature and contact info. The iphone mistakenly suggested an update to Brian's contact info as a result, and Mike Waltz accepted the update

Looks plausible, someone send me an Iphone so that I can test that theory.

Yes, it sounds plausible, but it doesn't really exonerate any of the participants. Everything they were doing ought to have been secure--the apps they used, the email, the phones, the environment, the network, the locations, even the contact lists, etc. If Mike Waltz is the national security adviser, then it is really still some responsibility within that role for having used a personal phone that was used in the campaign with a previous contact list and a bunch of other security holes. Everyone in the chat ought to have been aware of all of the risks they were--and probably still are--creating.

What he said on Dec. 7, 2022,was it was taking longer than expected. That was about 11 months after Russians discovered their tank turrets could fly better than their helicopters. How long did he expect it to take? Do you think Putin intended for the Special Military Operation to take multiple years and 600,000 casualties? I wonder if he expected to be sending Russian men into battle sitting in the back seat of a Lada.

Probably not, but it's employment security for you.

On the plus side for Russia, even though all the tanks are gone, there's plenty of Ladas.

And this is why you keep the secret stuff on secret systems. When you mix them things like this happen.

Come on now. You're not even bothering to phone it in. Sooner or later your handler is going to check up and see you're not even trying to spread disinformation.

It's been ages since you told us Ukraine is not really a country or Zelensky is a Nazi. You better pick up the pace or you may find yourself in the back seat of Lada.

The irony is strong in this one.
One has to concede the difficulty of the task.

Imagine yourself as the spokesperson for billionaire and their company, and the chief product has somehow killed not only customers in the thousands, but thousands of employees, as well. You also know other employees who tried to point out the obvious hazards have died in mysterious ways.

Your job is to tell surviving employees and prospective customers that everything is going well. You know no one believes a word you say, but have to stick to the script.

To top it off, you know it's actually worse than it appears.

Oh for fuck's sake.

The group chat, reportedly created by Hegseth in January before his confirmation as defense secretary, included his wife Jennifer — a journalist and former Fox News producer — his brother Phil, and attorney Tim Parlatore, who also holds a Pentagon role and continues to serve as Hegseth’s personal lawyer.

I'm trying to wrap my head around the concept of a defense secretary who lacks the ability to tell his wife "you know I can't talk about that with you" and instead hands her classified tactical information ahead of a secret air strike.

The depressing part is we all know Hesgeth's inevitable replacement is going to be even worse.

The sharks are circling around the Secretary of Drinking;

Yet even strong backers of the secretary like me must admit: The last month has been a full-blown meltdown at the Pentagon — and it’s becoming a real problem for the administration.

First there was Signalgate, where the secretary shared detailed operational plans, including timelines and specifics, about an impending military strike on the Houthis in Yemen over an unclassified Signal chat group that happened to include a member of the news media.

Once the Signalgate story broke, Hegseth followed horrible crisis-communications advice from his new public affairs team, who somehow convinced him to try to debunk the reporting through a vague, Clinton-esque non-denial denial that “nobody was texting war plans.” This was a violation of PR rule number one — get the bad news out right away.

Are we placing bets on how much longer? I'm thinking 2nd of May is when he goes.

It must be tough in Russia.

Congrats to Barbos for still being alive.

Is that so he can lead the May Day parade before leaving?

More because Trump likes sacking people on a Friday so by the time Monday comes around the press are already bored, stopped talking about it and have moved on to the next piece of idiocy he's done. If there is one thing that terrifies Trump, it's the media providing ironclad arguments that his judgment is complete dogshit.

I find this story less interesting because of the callous lack of security, and more because this got leaked out, almost assuredly by the Trump Admin itself. There is a faction in the Trump Admin that doesn't like Hegseth and they are trying to push him out.

There is nothing less comforting than a band of idiots warring with another band of idiots for control in the White House.
