Maybe he felt betrayed? The truth can hurt sometimes.

So was this another Republican that wanted to kill Trump?

I think he just chose to die surrounded by things he loved.
But why load all the things you love into a rented POS Tesla?
A guy killed himself in a rented vehicle.

I don't think anyone is going to make sense of that.
Tom

Okay, but as a MAGA warrior he probably worshipped Trump, Musk, and guns. He blew himself up surrounded by guns, ammunition, and fireworks in a super Musk vehicle in front of a Trump tower. You say this doesn't make sense and you are right in that killing yourself doesn't make sense, but it's not like this kind of thing isn't done when people surround themselves with people and/or things they love in a moment of death. Think how people plan their coffins, funerals, or even going back thousands of years to ancient Egyptian pharaohs.

Everyone is talking about how much this special forces guy could have blown up half the building. People are saying. But instead he blew himself up and only injured a few people. Clearly, this wasn't terrorism, but another day of love, just like J6.

How does the OP "MAGA Christianity hits Las Vegas" relate to the linked article? I did not see Christianity mentioned once in the article itself (I think).

I have not heard that this guy was a Trump supporter on any other source of news. I don't think we have enough information to know why this guy did what he did, although he was involved in combat and won numerous awards for that. Perhaps he was another victim of what war does to one's brain. According to the link I will post, he had an argument with his wife, shortly before he killed himself and blew up the truck. And, Tigers is correct, so far, there has been no mention of his religious beliefs, or if his religious belief had anything to do with his actions.

The highly decorated Army soldier inside a Tesla Cybertruck packed with fireworks that exploded outside Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas shot himself in the head just before detonation, authorities said Thursday.

The explosion caused minor injuries to seven people but virtually no damage to the hotel. Clark County Sheriff Kevin McMahill said Matthew Livelsberger, a 37-year-old Green Beret, likely planned a more damaging attack but the steel-sided vehicle absorbed much of the force from the crudely built explosive.

Damage from the blast was mostly limited to the interior of the truck because the explosion “vented out and up” and didn’t hit the Trump hotel doors just a few feet away, the sheriff said.

“The level of sophistication is not what we would expect from an individual with this type of military experience,” said Kenny Cooper, a special agent in charge for the the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

I have not heard that this guy was a Trump supporter on any other source of news.

In addition to his uncle being interviewed, his neighbor and friend of his ex-wife was also interviewed independently.

Stacie Wilssens, of Manitou Springs, knew Livelsberger through his former wife, Sara Livelsberger. The women hit it off as friends around 2012 after the Livelsbergers moved to Colorado Springs for Matthew Livelsberger's job with the military. The couple divorced in 2018.

Wilssens said that Sara Livelsberger was often alone when her husband was deployed overseas, which left her struggling and depressed. Wilssens said she mostly hung out with Sara when her husband was not around because Wilssens disliked being around him.

"She was trying to get healthy and he would mock her," said Wilssens. "He preyed on her."

Wilssens added that the two were "polar opposites."

Wilssens said that she and Sara were staunch Bernie Sanders supporters during the 2016 election, and Matthew Livelsberger, whom she described as a conservative thinker, supported Donald Trump, which she believes was a major ideology disconnect.

Why would anyone have an expectation that the media would point out that he was Christian? If he were Muslim or atheist, you can bet as soon as they found that out, it'd be reported. Even if they suspected it, some would report it. Some things are so obvious, so institutionalized that they are part of the fabric of society and invisible except to all those who take a good, critical, detached look around.

I just read over 5 articles about the man and not a single one mentioned any affiliation with any kind of religion. He was married and divorced 3 times and his most recent girlfriend broke up with him because she suspected he was cheating on her. I think he was just a fucked up person, and possibly a victim of being in combat. While we all know there are plenty of White Christian Nationalists who support Trump, I personally don't think it's right to equate religious beliefs with this particular person, since there is no evidence that his religious beliefs or lack thereof had a thing to do with his suicide and blowing up the Tesla. Shit. There are even a small percentage of atheists who voted for Trump, but many atheists are in the closet about their atheism. I personally know some who have never told their Christian friends that they are atheists, so the assumption would probably be that they are Christians. Friends say that he voted for Trump, but it's also possible he was angry about voting for Trump. We will never know.

I also read that he contacted his ex and bragged about the Tesla. She said he sounded like a kid with a new toy. The guy was obviously fucked up but I doubt politics or religion had much if anything to do with it. I'm going with something else in his history, including his many years in the military. I just don't like making assumptions without any credible evidence. I will not label him a MAGA Christian until I see the evidence. I'll leave it at that. It's sad that we have so many sick, violent individuals in the world.

I also read about the teenager who planned on attacking the Taylor Swift concert in Europe, which was cancelled after his plans were discovered. He was another one who was radicalized by ISIS. He's been arrested and charged. Luckily, his plans never came to fruition. Maybe we need a thread about all of these messed up people who are easily radicalized by extremist groups. Some were simply messed up and wanted to die or kill to get recognition. That seems to be common among mass murderers.

The OP'er was being "ironic". The American, likely Christian, did something, on its face, but not necessarily true, nefarious. The anti-Christian boners didn't start rising immediately. The whole "religion of peace" shit that happens anytime some Muslim acts badly gets pretty old as most Muslims, like most Christians, and any true Atheist ;) don't commit violent acts.

Yup.

Just to add--no one is going to report the guy was Christian. Imagine the NYT writing "Hey look, a Christian did this!" Almost all crimes in the US are committed by Christians.

So the only evidence of your claim that the man is a Christian, is that there is no evidence to validate your claim?

I was curious and checked the numbers.

Number killed in America from Islamic terrorism in 21st century
3,121 (including 9/11), 144 (excluding 9/11)

Number of people killed in mass killings at US schools excluding Virginia Tech (2000 - 2020)
350 people

Number of people killed at Las Vegas mass murder
60 (over 400 wounded)

Obviously 9/11 isn't exactly something we can provide a pass, but that was al Qaeda, a global terror group. The DIY terrorists in the US are well behind DIY assassins at US schools.

I remember seeing that ad on Gruen. That and the Netherlands fireworks safety ad are absolute gold.
