"Me Too" Judge Roy Moore

I've been following this on another forum - one for the more religiously right wing - and the reasoning for still backing Moore are equally depressing & unsurprising.

Essentially, what he did was a bad idea, but not 'inherently immoral' (going back as usual to that unless something is inherently or objectively immoral, its the same as flavours of ice-cream - the usual nonsense), and as he allegedly got parental consent that's another tick in his book. and at the end of the day, at least he isn't pro murdering babies, so he is objectively the lesser evil in the race.

The conversation quickly branched off to how old girls were when they got married in the bible - thus making it a bad idea in todays society but not 'inherently immoral'.
Where do these people live and do they have young teenaged daughters I can fuck?

I could do a Christian based porn series - Barely Moral Teens.

You're not far off. These teenaged girls want to fuck. They're horny as hell. But sex before marriage is a sin. The solution? Marry them young. 16, 17, 18 at latest. And to older men who are establishment figures. Better than having them sin.

Sadly Roy Moore's behavior isn't out of the norm for some parts of the rural south. He crossed a line by exposing himself once to a 14 year old and trying to force another teenager to give him a blow job. But trying to date young girls? Typical Christian. His eventual wife was of that age group, 14 years younger than he was.

A retired Alabama police officer told MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell on Tuesday that she had to keep an eye on Alabama Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore in the 1980s at local high school football games because he would regularly harass the team’s teenage cheerleaders. Faye Gary, who for 37 years was an officer at the Gadsden Police Department, explained to Mitchell that Moore’s reputation for pursuing underage girls was widely known throughout the community.

“We were also told to watch him at the ballgames, and make sure that he didn’t, you know, hang around with the cheerleaders,” said Gary.

Dirty old man! It just keeps getting worse.

Especially seeing this asshat ran for Supreme Court twice and none of this came out! The state of Alabama could have done something about this a long time ago.

There was a time, and that time ended somewhere around 1930, or so. Young women were considered marrying age, anytime after 16, because that was when most girls secondary education was finished. Since a man was supposed to be able to support a wife "in a manner to which she was accustomed," a man was either heir to money, or had been working in the real world for 10 or 15 years. That was then, and one thing is certain, if a man paid attention to a woman ten years his junior, someone would ask about his intentions.

Roy Moore was not looking for a wife, so none of any bygone southern culture is applicable. Gone with the wind, and all that.

As the father of two daughters and as the employer of a large number of 16 to 20-something women, over the past years, I've had close observation of the way young women view the older men who pursue them. They are not charitable. The worst venom was saved for guys who lied about their age, in order to reduce the age gap.

I remember when my oldest daughter discovered one of her boyfriend's roommates was actually 26, but claimed to be 19, so he would fit in with the crowd of girls who came around. There were no kind words.

None of this is really out of the ordinary. There are a lot of men like Roy Moore, and just enough young women, to keep their hopes up. That's not the real issue. What we have here, is a failure to communicate. Roy Moore is lying to conceal his past behavior, in order to further his career. He is lying in the face of mounting testimony from people who know him, which requires him to lie again, and accuse his accusers of lying.

For a man who claims to have moral principles based on his religion, we have to add hypocrisy to his list of charges. That is the real issue. Anyone, conservative or liberal, who cannot see this is a deal breaker for any public office, is as deluded as Moore, himself.

It's not so much that he is a liar, it's that he is such a poor liar.

This guy sure got pretty high up, for being a poor liar.

Which is the weirdest part. Apparently, his scoping out teenagers was well known by everyone and there hasn't been some kind of lack of reporting about his charity scams and all that. Yet, nobody had a problem spending decades not talking about them or giving much of a shit.

Lying shows poor judgment and should disqualify someone from public office. You know what else should disqualify someone from public office? Getting kicked out of a shopping mall because you won't stop hitting on teenagers. Or if the government needs to designate cops specifically to stop you from hitting on high school cheerleaders at high school football games.

People rightly yelled at the Catholic church for protecting priests who did things like this, but we're supposed to elect someone of similarly poor morals to public office? Really? Why is this even a debate?

The story about how Moore had his eye on his future wife is well creepy. He saw her at a school dance recital when she was about 15, he was about 30 and he took a mental note of her.

I'm wondering why he was at a dance recital. These things are shit and unless you have a close relative performing, most people avoid.

How do you know she's not a close relative?

So, long term ramifications against the Repubs should he make it into office? Any at all? Who am I kidding? Repubs don't seem to care for consistency...

Well what do you know? It turns out that some Republican women are actually against pedophilia!

You're right. It should read "It turns out that some Republican women are actually against sexual predators who target children still undergoing puberty."

If you going to engage in pedantry, go all the way and spell names correctly.

Wow. Derec defending a child molester! I'm shocked.
