How many right-wingers are thinking of this alternative do you think?

Here’s the problem: If these tactics end up working to keep Trump from winning or even running in 2024, it is going to be the last American election that will be decided by ballots rather than bullets.
This presumes Trump would win otherwise. Trump has already lost an election (popular vote twice). So Trump losing shouldn't be a shock. But Huckabee is saying it is the only way Trump can lose. The good news is Huckabee suggests the Democrats will run the dictatorship as we'll use bullets next time, so silver lining and all.

The bad news is that the Capitol Police did not (were not prepared and equipped) last time, to open fire on the front line assaulters/storm troopers, preventing the breaching of the Capitol. If they succeeded in preventing it with some fatalities, it would serve as deterrent to anyone contemplating similar treason. If they had been outgunned by the AR-wielding morons, at least the fact of an armed insurrection/rebellion would not now be in dispute.

Also, more good news...as the world looks on at the horrific potential, they wonder about the stability of the American dollar and stock prices...which in turn makes some American oligarchs question supporting Trump.

You can bet people like Suckabee will be nowhere near the front lines of the war they want so much.

WUT?
Huckleberry doesn’t want a war, he wants advocates of democracy to say “Oh snap, you’re right, this could get messy, so we better just back down and let Cheato be President Cheato!”

Indeed, but in the same way, Tony Soprano doesn't want to burn down your restaurant, he just wants you to say "Oh snap, this could get messy, so I better just back down and pay him the protection money".

If you don't back down, it really will get messy. And the US system isn't actually structured to allow a bunch of cowards who fear violence to simply hand the Presidency to the guy who lost the vote, but had the most intimidating supporters to back him up.

"Backing down" really isn't an option, and January 6th largely foundered on that - Mike Pence wouldn't refuse to do his clearly defined job, and certify the results, but if he had refused, or been incapacitated, someone else would have done it. The system is deliberately designed not to depend on any single person (not even the President, which is why the Vice President exists).

If these fools persist in, and are successful at, persuading the heavily armed, but poorly trained and even more poorly coordinated, 'militia' groups to take up arms against the government, a lot of foolish people are going to finally get their wish, and have government officials literally prise their guns from their cold dead hands.

To what end? Would there be enough violence to overturn an election or would it just be terrorism in the streets that would have to be addressed by Biden’s government?

It seems that it’s more about the threat of violence to intimidate potential voters. I am highly skeptical that Trump sore losers running into the streets with AR-15s would impact the political outcome.

Crazy is the operative word, having a brain that is not rational. These dumb fuckers - not to underestimate the enemy - are pretty clever, but they ain't smart, and they ain't brave. Least that's how I see it.

There's a lot to unpack here. Granted, a lot of it is the standard "but whatabout Joe Biden's corruption?" stuff, but with regards to the above quote, Mike seems to have forgotten that Trump is indeed running for 2024, and that when he ran in 2020 and the ballots didn't fall his way, he tried to have it decided by violence.

Mike seems to be saying that "these tactics" (holding people accountable for attempting to violently overthrow the government) are beyond the pale, and that an even higher level of violence may be needed to deal with those pesky courts and law enforcement agencies that deny Trump his rightful place upon the throne of the new American Kingdom of...God?

With the last insurrection leaders now heading into decades of prison time, the next leaders better have a plan to win or they will face a similar plight. And this time their guy is an ordinary citizen not wielding the power of the US military.

Disagree--while our system does have checks to avoid it coming down to one person it's the nature of those checks that they were seeking to exploit.

There is no way they could have permanently stopped the electoral college, but they didn't need to--there was a ticking clock. Muddy the waters enough that the fallback option is used: the House votes. However, it's one-state-one-vote and that would give the election to His Flatulence.

One of the big problems with the current search for insurrectionists is running up against statute of limitations. I think that for such acts, the statute of limitations needs increasing. No escaping punishment for violent acts of insurrection by violent insurrectionists. Zero tolerance and no more wrist slaps. Put the government's cards squarely on the table. Make it plain this will not be tolerated.

I just read the entire piece. Project much, Republicans? Just about everything Huklebee said about Biden is more like Trump. Sure, Biden is the corrupt grifter who has been using his political positions to enrich himself./s WTF!

From the mouth of this liar:

“If you are not paying attention, you may not realize that Joe Biden is using exactly those tactics to make sure that Donald Trump is not his opponent in 2024,” Huckabee said.

“This kind of thuggery at tax payer expense isn’t supposed to happen in the United States,” he continued. “No, we’re supposed to be a nation of laws and not a nation of powerful people. But the Biden administration is in full meltdown mode to hide the money laundering, influence peddling and outright bribery that Joe, his son Hunter and their associates have been conducting for well over a decade that has enriched them to the tune of tens of millions of dollars.”
Who believes this shit? It's as if he's talking about Trump but instead is saying Biden's name. Biden should sue Huckie for slander, since there is no evidence of his claims. It appears as if all he's trying to do is tell lies about Biden in hopes of helping Trump. If he really believes this shit, he needs to have his head examined, as we used to say back in the day when someone didn't seem mentally stable.

Who is listening? Donald Trump. Who believes this shit? Only the most deplorable dregs of trumpsucking humanity.
Does he need his head examined? No, he needs to be straightened out; a defamation suit would probably be a good thing. Otherwise he keeps doing this shit in the hope of becoming VP.

Who believes this shit?

There is no other course than to vote blue up and down the ballot. It's not Trump anymore -- the party has become irredeemably corrupt. Lies, bigotry, and defense of criminals. And because Trump spawned more of these venomous characters, like Kari Lake, and cavewoman Marjorie, and DeSantis, and Jordan in my state -- we're either going to have a Republican future or a (semblance of) a working democracy.

I've wondered if that may actually be causing some of our economic woes right now.
