Murder Spree in America continues

America has always been an extremely violent country. We are a nation that enslaved blacks, invaded Mexico and slaughtered native Americans. Hitler admired this and built his program for genocide around it for Poles and Russians. The gun barrel is kind of a metaphorical erect penis, and gunshots ejaculation. Very sad.
To be fare, we purchased mostly African peoples who were kidnapped, enslaved and transported across the ocean where survivors were purchased. We kept any children born to the enslaved peoples as slaves fir generations, for a couple of centuries.

No, I guess that doesn’t sound any better, does it?

Nope. :)

To be fair, let's not forget that Europeans and natives of Africa sold most of the slaves to America, and the British shoved all what they called white trash to America and most of them became indentured servants. So, it's not just our fucked up country. It's a human thing.. In fact, whenever Steven Colbert does his little questionnaire and he asks who is the scariest animal, my answer is always Humans.

On other other hand, when he asks if you only had one song to listen to for the rest of your life, I always think of "Caravan of Love" by the Isley Brothers, so humans have both good and bad sides, but guns make it easier for the bad guys to kill.

I’d like to correct what I see as a misconception. Trump supporters are not necessarily conservative (certainly not in the traditional sense).
Many are conservative by the definition I learned in high school: A conservative is someone who wishes to either maintain the status quo or return to a period of time in the past.
Alternatively a conservative is someone who wishes to keep what is good and works and change what is not good and/or not working.
That is a description of rational behavior not political ideology.
One could hope (sadly in vain) that political ideology would correspond to rational behaviour

I don't think it takes a PHD in psychology.

We have a culture of hyper violence with guns which is a large part of entertainment, incurring video games. Movies with guns and a sound track linking guns with male sexuality and power.

Coupled with a massive political and entertainment media with towering figures that dwarf people into insignificance.

Something malignant has creeped into culture.
Australia and Europe has all those same things. If you think US cinema is violent I think you should peruse some of Japanese cinema.

What all those places don't have is guns everywhere and easily available.

You’d think with the history of gun attacks on politicians and other prominent public figures, more politicians would support gun control

1. Andrew Jackson (gun jammed).
2. Abraham Lincoln, TWO attempts, the second successful. In the first in 1863 his stovepipe hat was shot off.
3. James Garfield, shot dead
4. William McKinley, shot dead.
5. Theodore Roosevelt, shot before making a speech. Made the speech anyway, then went to the hospital.
6. FDR, shot at after being elected but before inauguration. Chicago mayor killed instead.
7. Truman, attempted assassination
8. JFK
9. MLK and RFK killed a couple months apart.
10. Nixon stalked by Bremer, who later shot Wallace
11. Ford, two attempts on his life
12. Reagan shot
13 Pope shot

And so on. I’m sure I’ve forgotten a few.
