Yes, woke is a joke, and by using the word one joins the ranks of Trump, DeSantis, Greene, et al. Using woke to disparage someone by extension signals your disgust with protests for social justice and -- god forbid -- identity politics. But look how much the Repubs communicate with the word, and how much common identity is asserted.
The anti-MAGA side needs its own woke to describe The Way of Trump. It needs to be a short, pithy word, plucked from common usage. I'm for four-letter length, and for an aptness that hits the ear on the first take. It should also be chosen for its irritability level for the side you're labeling. 'Woke' has the ring of sarcasm coming from the MAGAts. "You're so very woke and aware, aren't you? How adorable." It also helps to choose a word that the other side has been using, even if it has not been a prominent word. ("Stay woke" was a phrase of black solidarity that may date back 90 years or so.) Perhaps a word Trump uses on the rally circuit.
Any ideas?
I nominate SHIT.
