Merged NY Rep Santos (merged from GOP elected that guy in WW84 and GOP are liars)

Rep. Anthony D’Esposito on X: "I will be introducing legislation to expel George Santos from Congress. (pic link)" / X

"George Santos' many deceptions coupled with the ever-expanding legal case against him further strengthen my long held belief that he is unfit to serve in Congress, and for that reason, I will be sponsoring a resolution to immediately expel George Santos from the House of Representatives."

Republican lawmakers to introduce resolution to expel Rep. George Santos from Congress - "The movement came a day after Santos, also a Republican, was charged with fraud and identity theft."
He told reporters he considers Santos "a stain" on the House and on New York state. "It's time that we move on from George Santos," D'Esposito said.

He said the resolution will be co-sponsored by fellow New York House Republicans Nick LaLota, Mike Lawler, Marc Molinaro, Nick Langworthy and Brandon Williams.

LaLota said he considers Santos an "immoral" and "untrustworthy" person. "The sooner he's gone, the better," he said.

Booting Santos would require a two-thirds vote of the entire House, a benchmark LaLota seemed confident of meeting. "I predict this resolution is going to catch fire. Many people feel how we do," he said.

Noting
Embattled Rep. George Santos hit with additional charges, including identity theft - "Prosecutors said Santos claimed he made nonexistent loans to his campaign while making unauthorized charges on donors' credit cards."

This has been tried before though.

By then, can't Santos move to get rid of whoever just got "elected" House Speaker? And keep everyone distracted with a new round of voting in Republican House Speaker?

Is Santos too ethical and focused to imitate Gaetz?

Stay tuned for next week's episode...

Too early in Johnson's reign to try that. The rest of the GOP is still with him.

Will Santos be expelled - finally

New York U.S. Rep. Anthony D'Esposito, R-4, posted on X, formerly Twitter, on Tuesday that he would be "introducing an expulsion resolution to rid the People's House of fraudster, George Santos." He said the resolution was to be co-sponsored by fellow New York freshmen U.S. Reps. Nick LaLota, R-1; Mike Lawler, R-17; Molinaro; Nicholas Langworthy, R-23; and Bradon Williams, R-22.

Repeatedly, Molinaro has said in the past that he thought Santos should resign.

In May, Molinaro was among Republicans who referred a resolution to kick Santos out of Congress to the House Ethics Committee, successfully sidestepping an effort to force them into a vote that could have narrowed their already slim four-seat House majority. The House voted along party lines, 221-204, to refer the matter to the ethics panel, with Santos himself joining his GOP colleagues in voting to do so.

So Santos the clown could have been gone in May but he's still around, even got to vote to keep his seat. Sweet.

Santos was arranged today on the new charges. Trial is set for next September, so unless the GOP expels him, he will serve out nearly all his term.

And Johnson doesn't sound like he's inclined to kick him out. Neither did McCarthy.

The resolution contains a highlight reel of Santos’ biggest misrepresentations.

“After election day, it was revealed that George Santos lied about a significant portion of his background, including his education and previous employment,” D’Esposito said Thursday, reading from the document. “George Santos has a long history of misrepresenting his and his family’s connections to major events including the Holocaust, Sept. 11th terror attacks, and the Pulse nightclub shooting.”

Santos has acknowledged that some parts of his life story have not been true, admitting he did not attend Baruch College or New York University and was not Jewish but “Jew-ish.”

Johnson doesn't sound like he's inclined to kick him out.
Johnson can do no wrong. God is his armor, his strength, his ... oh forget it.
He's a trumpsucking scumbag. Of course he's pally with Santos.

The expulsion bill is going to be voted on today. Will be surprising if this gets enough Republicans to pass. The NY ones are supporting it just for their electoral outlook.

A New York Republican, like his four cosponsors.

The resolution:

"Whereas after election day, it was revealed George Santos lied about a significant portion of his background, including his education and previous employment;"

"Whereas George Santos has a long history of misrepresenting his and his family’s connections to major events, including the Holocaust, the September 11th terrorist attacks, and the Pulse nightclub shooting;"

also mentioning his indictments and a staff member pleading guilty to falsifying campaign finance reports.

The House ethics investigation report has been released. It says a lot of what we already knew and more. Many of the people who voted no on the expulsion vote, including many Dems, said they wanted to see the ethics report first. So presumably this will lead to another vote.

And Santos won't run for re-election

......
Embattled Republican Rep. George Santos announced Thursday that he won't run for reelection in 2024, moments after the House Ethics Committee released a blistering report that found "substantial evidence" of wrongdoing.
.......

House Speaker Mike Johnson:

"We have no margin for error [with only a 4-seat majority] and so George Santos is due process, right?"

So if they had a bigger majority, they'd throw him to the sharks. How Christian of him.

So, why the Ethics committee investigation if they won't act on it?

That was a rhetorical question.

He might be useful to democratic challengers as poster boy for republicans.

So, the person named George Santos won't run for re-election.

Does that mean he's going to change his name, wear a disguise, so he can run?
