That is what makes both of these things wrong... not a tit for tat. Unless you want to justify a mass shooting at a synagogue that kills dozens of Jewish people, just because there is some aggregate counter in your head you mistake for justice.The guy who was attacked had nothing to do with Israeli political or military actions. The guy who was attacked was an American. One can say Israel's actions were asymmetrical, caused too much damage, killed too many people without quasi-condoning the random attack of an American.

Many Palestinians killed in the West bank were as innocent as that guy.
Yes. It is wrong to violently oppress many people for decades.
It is wrong to attack innocent people in the US.
But one thing is responsible for the other.
Palestinians killing people in the US is not the reason millions of Palestinians have been violently oppressed for decades.
