Political Rant Funny Images II

At least one Congressperson, Nancy Mace, will move swiftly toward the highest QOPAnon priority: Making sure that trans people use a birth-appropriate rest-room, and that unisex restrooms and other ploys by Antifa terrorists to circumvent gender laws be abolished.

Some of the super-woke terrorists oppose this common-sense agenda. Fortunately Ms. Mace and other Jesus-loving patriots stand ready to expose wrong-bathroom felons:

Presumably this part:

Ramaswamy, for his part, wrote in an X post that American culture "has venerated mediocrity over excellence," leading to a nation that does "not produce the best engineers."
For some people their work is their life, for others, it's a paycheck, a means to pursue other interests. You wanna be a cog in the machine to make our machine the best machine, knock yourself out. When Vivek and Elon convince me their focus is beating China or whomever and not their own wealth, power, and aggrandizement, then I'll give some credence to what they say.

I don't understand Domalewski's comment. How was Ramaswamy talking to white people?

American Culture Has Venerated Mediocrity

"The reason top tech companies often hire foreign-born & first-generation engineers over "native” Americans isn't because of an innate American IQ deficit (a lazy & wrong explanation). A key part of it comes down to the c-word: culture," Ramaswamy said in a lengthy post on X.

Ramaswamy, a first-generation US citizen whose parents immigrated from India, added that a "culture that celebrates the prom queen over the math olympiad champ, or the jock over the valedictorian, will not produce the best engineers."

MAGA Civil War Erupts

[Former South Carolina Governor Nikki] Haley didn't mince words when responding to Ramaswamy's X post on Thursday, writing: "There is nothing wrong with American workers or American culture. All you have to do is look at the border and see how many want what we have. We should be investing and prioritizing in Americans, not foreign workers."

Just Don't Come For My Immigrants

As you might expect, the blowback from this was swift and brutal. MAGAs don’t take kindly to being told they aren’t talented or motivated enough to be rewarded with the best tech jobs (even if that objectively is true), and that their “culture” is somehow to blame. That’s not very “America First,” and the fact that it came from a brown-skinned son of immigrants from India didn’t help.

Nor do they like the idea of a lot more immigrants, mostly from South Asia, being let into the country legally in order to fill jobs that their tech lord masters simply claim they can’t do. What happened to kicking all the immigrants out? Isn’t MAGA about stopping the “invasion” of America by all these brown people who are coming and taking our jurrrrbs?!

For decades we've been pushing high schools kids toward high tech fields. This is where the good paying jobs are, they said. What did they expect, that all the kids who reluctantly pursued careers in these fields they had little interest in were going to magically fall in love with their jobs?
The half-baked comments Ramaswamy makes about American culture could be said of K-pop and Bollywood.

Attract the people who really love to work in the field to your country if you can and keep them. Don't force them out after six years when they're probably the most productive in their job.

Don’t worry, there will be plenty of fruit-picking and landscaping jobs available for the MAGA folk after Trump kicks out the “bad” immigrants.

The idea that "culture" explains the American reliance on imported talent is as lazy and wrong as the idea that some kind of "innate American IQ deficit" is to blame.

The simplest (and therefore most plausible) explanation is statistical. Given that the US is (by far) the most attractive country for people wanting to do cutting edge science or engineering, the pool of talent they can draw on is worldwide.

Over 96% of humans are not born in the USA; Therefore one would anticipate that most of the best engineers and scientists in the USA will be born elsewhere, just as a consequence of arithmetic.

It's just the 'Brain Drain'.

If you have the talent to get to the very top of the engineering world, then you probably can't fulfil your potential in Kenya, or Brazil, or Pakistan. China or India might have a use for your abilities, or you might go to an EU country, or even go to Australia or Canada, but the bulk of the facilities and money for the most advanced R&D is in the US, so America is going to be on your list (probably top of your list). India and China between them host about a quarter of humanity, but they don't host anywhere close to a quarter of the top R&D roles worldwide.

Before WWI, Europe was the place to be. The best and brightest Americans (and indeed the best people from across the world) moved to the UK, Germany (for chemistry), or France (for aviation), to pursue opportunities created by their scientific and engineering talent.

Now the USA is the place to be. Top engineers and scientists tend to clump together where the money and facilities are. National boundaries are an impediment, but a wise government*, finding themselves to be the number one destination of choice for the world's top talent, will minimise that impediment.

If I were to suggest that the English have a culture of preferring intelectual pursuits over the development of skills as a football player; Or that English people are "innately bad at soccer", you would think I was nuts.

But how else can we explain the fact that so many players in the English Premier League were not born in England, (or have parents who were not born in England)?

The idea that the best foreign footballers are invading England because the English are culturally averse to soccer, or are innately bad at the sport, is clearly wrong; These foreigners are coming because the EPL is the most challenging and rewarding place in the world to use their skills. And of course there are more foreigners than there are locals; 57 million is a smaller number than 8 billion.

335 million is also less than 8 billion. You would know that, if it wasn't for your innate lack of mathematical ability, and your culture of rewarding sporting achievements over mathematical ones. ;)

* Of course, your actual government is trying to maximise that impediment; Perhaps because they are innately unwise, or have a culture that denigrates wisdom.
