Reflection Pool-Gate

Why do you yanks always add "-gate" to any controversy?
It originated with the scandal called "Watergate", named after the Watergate Hotel in Washington DC (a break in to the DNC headquarters). Long story, but President Nixon ended up resigning in the end. Knuckleheads have been adding -gate to the end of every scandal since.

I know about Watergate.
What I do not understand is the laziness, incoherency of adding the suffix "gate" to everything.

It is shorthand for “corrupt cockup”.

Yah got me there.🫤

Trump wanted the bubbles turned off to make the water prettier. I’m sure people around him knew better. But he wanted smooth water. Dumb dumb probably thought slapping a coat of paint on the bottom was really going to make the pool awesome too. Same mindset he used for his Taj Mahal fail. Nobody around him tells him “no”. Just think for the people charged with having his demented motorcade drive down the pool. The more messes he makes the better. Meanwhile they keep Project 2025 marching along.
Unfuckingbelievable this is a thread topic.
It's an important, international story. Even the Middle East news outlet Al Gaezeera has reported on it.

Surprised that posted. Guess I'm not banned yet.

The reflecting pool fuckup is like Trump,s entire term wrapped up in one incident.

He does what he wants regardless of the law.

He does not consult experts

He corruptly gives the work to his friends regardless of the law

He fucks it up and blames others

Trunp always fucks up
It’s his whole life. Throw a coat of paint on it. Declare is great and walk away while blaming others for the mess. Just like his casinos, steaks, airline. But he is useful to the GOP Project 2025 people so they let the demented sociopath fuck things up.

This is emblematic of his whole presidency. They not just let him fuck up. They help him. They carry out the orders. They lie and gaslight on his behalf. None of this happens without the people following the orders.

They let him and Musk blockage like morons about dead 150 year olds collecting social security. They knew it was stupidly wrong but it was their presence to see if the could administratively un-alive people. Every dumb thing he says or does their is a Steve Miller lurking in the back really breaking the things the matter

That's the most concise and probably correct reason I have heard.

It actually goes back to the Grover Cleveland presidency. One night Nellie Bly was invited to the White House. Cleveland met her at the gate, accompanied only by his secretary, Ambrose Pettigrew. According to Bly's later account, the President said, "Off with you, Pettigrew, I'm going to toss one off." Bly was now alone with the President, who leaned idly against the gate and seemed to fumble with his clothing. The scene was lit only by a gaslight some twenty feet away. The President said, according to Bly, "Is it all right, Miss, if I toss one off? You, being a woman of the world?"
Bly could see that he was holding something, she was not sure what. She said, "What have you got there, Mr. President?"
Cleveland replied, "Why, it is only a man-dagger. Mrs. Cleveland calls it The Woman Tamer. Step a bit closer, or better still, I shall approach you, and let it catch the light."
Bly fled. Within a few weeks she had embarked on her famous around the world trip, but she would write, "Even the succession of exotic foreign destinations could not erase the sight of that gnarled cord of flesh." Years later, after the Stanford White murder scandal, Bly told the story in full, and attempted to enlist other female correspondents in a "Myself, As Well" movement. But the times were not right.
Today, when this little-known event is recalled, it is called Daggergate.

This has been a History Minute from the White House historian's office, for the 250th birthday of the Republic. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Well, as long as we ignore the arrests made to deal with the vandalism that didn't actually happen after Trump had the NPS remove the things in place to keep the algae from growing because of *reasons*, we can discuss your banal red herring.

Jeanine Pirro got a grand jury to indict Davey Hearn with a felony for touching their peeling paint. But Pirro has a poor success rate with her contrived charges.
