In his speech, he seemed to be channeling Benito Mussolini. If you watch Mussolini's old speeches you see he speaks for a few seconds then stops and poses for a few. That was very noticeable in Trumps speech last night. Speak,,,pose...speak...pose....
Like all Trump speeches it was all platitudes and no substance. Now, I realize that this is the case in many political speeches, but usually there is a website or somewhere that you can go to see a plan. The only "plans" trump has given are vague: he's going to somehow build a beautiful wall, and he's going to somehow make some kind of general ban on Muslims, he isn't going to continue honoring many treaties we have made. He's going to, I guess using some kind of voodoo, lower taxes and balance the budget.
What truly scares me, is that the fear factor has worked before. In 2004 we had a president with an approval rating in the 30s, who had completely botched the occupation of Iraq among many other failures, defeat a fairly sound democratic candidate by using fear as his only weapon.

I watched most of this shit show over the last few days. I get the distinct impression that the GOP is falling apart, despite their best effort to not show this. Where did all their intellectuals go? Are they all Independents now?
This convention looks slapped together by a 10 year old film maker wannabee with lots of ambition and no talent. I don't know why they bothered changing the theme every day, they could have just called the over all theme "Lock up Hillary" and been done with it.
The 3rd rate speakers were simply awful. What struck me particularly was how many of them were at least somewhat unhinged. I found the mothers of soldiers they trotted out to be in particularly bad taste. I also found it deeply hypocritical, as these same people pretended to care - the same people that HATED Cindy Sheehan. Remember her?
Whatever moderates are left in the party have been diminished for a long time now, but this convention seems to be the nail in the coffin for any chance at reconciliation between Republican party members, and any hope to salvage the party as anything but a running version of the various extreme GOP AM radio programs.
People were talking about the party breaking up, then that talk disappeared as most of the party lined up behind Trump. Nevertheless, if this party isn't breaking up, then surely it's been transformed into something even uglier than any of us thought possible. There used to be at least a pretext of professionalism behind it all, now even that has been abandoned.
I don't see how any conservative of conscience and intellect can remain in this party. Of course, I've actually been saying that for a long time, but seeing the majority of this party in one place, and noting how they really are a party of hate, of willing ignorance, and of little else is kind of stunning. I mean, they can't even provide leadership through a convention that lasts a few days. How can they hope to run the country?
