The Border Wall Trust Fund Act, introduced Friday by Rep. Diane Black (R-Tenn.), would “allow the secretary of the Treasury to accept public donations to fund the construction of a barrier on the border between the United States and Mexico, and for other purposes.”

*sigh*

article said:
The bill also calls for money to be used to construct a mile-long “commemorative display” to honor donors — unless the “secretary determines that length to be impracticable.”

*getting numb again*

So, crowdfund a $20 to $70ish billion wall.
[purple headed con-woman]If every American *tears* just donates $53.33, we can have our wall... praise Jebus![/purple headed con-woman]

Since the Republican controlled congress won't provide the funding I support this, as long as those donations are not tax deductible.

Northerners will probably not participate at all and those that do participate will have less money to donate to republican candidates. The sorry bit of funding they will get will be an embarrassment.

ETA: Mexico will pay for the wall.

Crowdfunding the wall is the perfect libertarian solution to the problem. Not only is no one going to be forced at gunpoint to pay for the wall, but the lack of sufficient funding will mean that the impediment to free association will not be built!

On the bright side, every dollar donated by the type of people that would is a dollar less spent buying guns, travelling to Nazi rallies, and donating to the GOP, NRA, and religious organizations designed to profit by harming to people.

There's no actual plan for a wall? Gosh, it's almost as if all that talk about walls was just disingenuous bullshit to get the racist vote (whoops, I mean the vote of patriotic Real Americans[ent]trade[/ent]).

Agreed! I also hope that this private money means that they won't be able to steal people's land along the border under the guise of public domain.

No, it's still a government project. Just allowing Trump to launder his money through donations to a specific project, so that the money eventually goes to completely independent contractors, who earned the contracts through merit in their established skill at border walls.

Make cheques payable to 'Department of Justice and Treasury Receipts for Uplift of Mexico Palings'.

If that won't all fit, you can just abbreviate it.

I like it!

The tiny amount this will raise will show how little people really value it.

Conservolibertarians: We need to build that wall because Mexicans are all* rapists!!!!

Also conservolibertarians: Rape doesn't exist. Rape allegations are all made up by women to persecute men!!!!

I recognize that many of you think changing the word "all" to "some" in this sentence will change this from an unreasonable statement to a reasonable one and somehow prove that Trump isn't a racist. I also recognize that you think Hillary Clinton is running a secret child sex slave ring out of the basement of a pizza restaurant.
