• America lost industrial jobs because it was cheaper to have poorer people do it overseas and innovation led to improvements in processes that led to fewer people and resources being needed for the work. Not because of immigrants.
• Health care is expensive, because it requires highly trained people with expensive machines, and our population is aging. Not because of immigrants.
• America already has a lot of jobs.

2. Health care is expensive because the pharmaceutical oligarchy can make more profits this way. They have purchased our government to make sure this continues.

3. America does not have a lot of jobs and we are trending the wrong direction. China has surpassed the US in GDP. Furthermore, we don't really want just a lot of jobs what we want is a lot of good jobs that can provide good incomes.

Haitian immigrants are here legally, under the Immigration Parole Program. Once here, immigrants are then eligible to apply for Temporary Protected Status (TPS). Haiti is designated by the Secretary of Homeland Security for TPS. Current TPS is granted through February 3, 2026.

The difference is this. The difference is that back then we accepted immigration after it was legally agreed to by the US public. My ancestors were not illegal immigrants they were legal. And there were expectations put upon their arrival. The rest of the country knew what was going on when his family entered this country and were not left to wonder why new people were suddenly appearing. My ancestors had to pay for their own trip over here, and when they arrived had to pay for their own subsistence.

AFAIK, no person is illegal. AFAIK, a whole bunch of my ancestors immigrated to what is now the USA before 1776. A bunch came after, I presume legally, although that information is lost, as I expect details about your ancestors and most people's ancestors is lost. But really, what does it matter? We are ALL immigrants or their descendants except for native Americans and depending on how you look at it, descendants of enslaved people who were forcibly relocated to what is now the US and various parts of the Caribbean and South and Central American.

Why don't we accept immigration now? Why are we suspicious that every person who is not obviously of European descent is 'illegal' and doesn't belong? Is there something about....their complexion? Religion? Language?

It's easy to assume that everyone who immigrated to what is now the US in the last 300 years was welcomed, at least by the descendants of other immigrants but this is hardly true. What is different is that it happened in the past and not today.

The REAL issue is exactly why it is that so many employers actively seek immigrants to fulfill positions in their factors, on their farms, etc. At least some of that is answered by the FACT that many immigrants are willing to work low paying jobs under difficult conditions and are less likely to complain about not being paid fairly or dangerous work conditions. Employers ( or enough of them) create the need by being unwilling to pay wages t hat attract Americans and do their best to avoid workplace safety regulations when they can.

I would also like to point out the very obvious war against public education that the GOP has engaged in since the days of St. Reagan. This has not helped the descendants of US citizens from 100 years ago or more succeed in well paying jobs but it has made them very easy to manipulate. All the GOP has to do is blame everything on 'illegal' immigrants and the Democrats who are stealing all of the jobs and who want to perform gender confirming surgery on grade school kids without their parents' permission on school grounds/during school hours.

Most immigrants are law abiding, even those who came here illegally, and most are hard working people who want a better life for themselves and their families. Like most people all over the world, they tend to clump up together with people who share a language, culture, religion, etc. for companionship and because those people are likely to help them get established. So are various church groups.

The real question everyone should be wondering is who has been behind benefaction these people while they become settled. These people did not just magically appear in Springfield en mass. I'm still not clear about this nor does anyone else seem to know. Who is paying these people enough to buy Lexis cars and have $30k bank statements on their food cards? The US government? Or is it someone else?

Who is paying so much money to so many of these people that their mere presence is causing housing and other costs to skyrocket in Springfield? Causing locals to become homeless themselves. I don't know the answer but I suspect it has something to do with wealthy corporations.

Haitian immigrants are here legally, under the Immigration Parole Program. Once here, immigrants are then eligible to apply for Temporary Protected Status (TPS). Haiti is designated by the Secretary of Homeland Security for TPS. Current TPS is granted through February 3, 2026.
