The Marjorie Taylor Greene case

Trump campaign not hiring far-right activist Laura Loomer | The Hill
Loomer has previously described Islam as a “cancer.”

She was banned from ride-sharing apps Uber and Lyft in 2017 after tweeting that she “never want(s) to support another Islamic immigrant driver,” and calling for “someone … to create a non Islamic form of @uber or @lyft.”

She was banned from Twitter after a series of anti-Muslim posts, including one targeting Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), one of the first Muslim women elected to Congress, that made incendiary claims about Islam. She was reinstated after Elon Musk purchased the platform.

Marjorie Taylor Greene Makes Bizarre Quip About Taxes During The Ice Age, Insults AOC
“People are not affecting climate change,” Greene said. “You’re not going to tell me that back in the ice age, how much taxes did people pay, and how many changes did governments make to melt the ice? The climate is going to continue to change.”

She continued, “And there is no reason to just open up our borders and allow everyone in and continue to funnel over $50 billion or however many billions of dollars or trillions of dollars to foreign countries all over the world simply because they don’t like the climate change.”
Back in 2021:
“How much taxes and how much money did the people back in the ice age spend to warm up the Earth?” Greene asked. “Maybe, perhaps, we live on a ball that rotates around the sun, that flies through the universe, and maybe our climate just changes.”
Back to the recent one:
“I’ll tell you what the New Deal and our new infrastructure plan will do,” said Greene. “It’s going to bring us down to net zero carbon emissions, right? So we’ve got to stop using oil and coal, right? Because that makes a lot of sense to a little girl named AOC from New York.”

She added: “You can’t even make this up.”

What was humanity like back then?

That was before the invention of agriculture, done several times in the  Holocene Epoch but with no surviving pre-Holocene inventions - Why was agriculture invented in the Holocene Epoch and not before? | Internet Infidels Discussion Board

The Holocene Epoch began about 11,650 Before Present (1950 CE). The inventions:
  • 12,000 BP -- Middle East
  • 11,500 BP -- China
  • 10,000 BP -- New Guinea, Central America, South America (Andes, Amazonia)
  • 8,500 BP -- India
  • 8,000 BP -- East Africa
  • 6,500 BP -- North America
  • 4,500 BP -- West Africa

Paleolithic societies (article) | Khan Academy

Before agriculture, we lived off of foraging: hunting and gathering. We lived in very small communities, bands of about 25 people each associated in groups of about 20, making a larger community of 500 people.

Governments emerged in large-scale societies, and such societies emerged with agriculture, in the Holocene.

What might Paleolithic climate denialism seem like? I decided to consider the  Last Glacial Maximum of the  Last Glacial Period, roughly 26,000 - 20,000 years ago.

I came up with a scenario of someone living in Northern Germany who is in denial about the coming of the continental glaciers from Scandinavia.

Bright Stone, a tailor, from a place nicknamed "The Green", was an elder of her band, much respected for her expertise in making warm clothes. But as she aged, she would go off on rants about ghosts and demons and the like, When people grumbled that berry bushes are becoming harder and harder to find, she would ramble about how easy they were to find in her earlier years.

Enduring Bear, another elder, was not in physical shape to do much hunting, but he had plenty of expertise on that, and he noticed how the hunters of the band were grumbling about animals being more and more difficult to find.

Bright Stone and Enduring Bear were at loggerheads as to what to do about that, and they got the idea to send a hunting party to the north. Running Deer and Crafty Badger agreed, and they and some other men packed up a lot of pemmican and went northward.

They traveled half a month, and they came across snow -- snow in the middle of summer. The snow extended off into the horizon. Running Deer had the idea that the snow would end somewhere, and he convinced the others to walk into it. But it was slow going without winter boots and snowshoes, and they turned back.

Enduring Bear said that this was worse than they thought. He knew of huge snowdrifts to the north, but this one was getting very close. With the shortages of berries and animals, it seemed like time to move -- move southward.

Bright Stone's only response was to rant about how lazy everybody was. Plenty of berries to pick and plenty of animals to hunt.

So they packed up their bags, disassembling their tepees, and Bright Stone reluctantly went along with that. She didn't want to try to survive without the others, and she didn't want to become a meal for some wolf or hyena or lion or bear.

The move southward was a slow trudge, but as they moved, they saw more and more vegetation. Enduring Bear felt very justified, while Bright Stone grumbled about having to help carry her tepee poles.

They successfully settled down, and only Bright Stone continued to be unhappy with it, even as the others tried to explain to her that her old home was a bad place to live.

The ice age thing was probably her trying to make some kind of deluded point about government. Or not considering she is now accusing the DNC of hiding a laptop for 66 years.

Just wait for the celeb wedding: MTG & Trump.

Something-or-other of Babylon and all that?

The ice age thing was probably her trying to make some kind of deluded point about government.
But I found it fun to compose that Ice Age climate denialism.

The names:

Marjorie (medieval English) < Margery (medieval English) < Margaret (medieval English) < Margarita (Late Latin) < margaritês (Greek) "pearl" (origin obscure)

So I decided to think of some word for gemstone, and I settled on "Bright Stone".

Bernie (diminutive) < Bernard < early Germanic bern "bear" + hart "hard, firm, brave, hardy"

I thought of what might be a good interpretation of the second part, and that's how I came up with "Enduring Bear".

Or not considering she is now accusing the DNC of hiding a laptop for 66 years.

History of laptops - the first laptop computers were made in the early 1980's, and they were very primitive by today's standards. From 38 years ago, in 1985, was the  Toshiba T1100 described by its maker as "the world's first mass-market laptop computer".
Its technical specifications were comparable to the original IBM PC desktop, using floppy disks (it had no hard drive), a 4.77 MHz Intel 80C88 CPU (a lower-power variation of the Intel 8088), 256 KB of conventional RAM extendable to 512 KB, and a monochrome LCD capable of displaying 80x25 text and 640x200 CGA graphics.
It weighed in at 4.1 kg (9.0 lb), comparable to some of the heavier present-day laptops. Like present-day ones and unlike some earlier ones, it had a battery in it.

And Christopher Wray is a Republican.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who has consistently bashed drag queens, defended her boyfriend, Brian Glenn, after a Twitter account surfaced an old video of him dressed like a woman.

The Twitter account "Patriot Takes" posted the video on Sunday, which showed Glenn dressed like an old Caucasian woman — complete with a fluffy blonde wig, white gloves, and a pink cardigan.

Glenn, a producer at a right-wing broadcasting network, could be heard saying: "I'm kicking the shoes off. I may keep the pantyhose on. It does feel kind of good, actually." It is unclear when the video first aired, but Glenn was an anchor for WFAA TV, an ABC-affiliated media company in Dallas, from 2013 to 2015.

The video has been viewed more than 1.3 million times at press time.

Greene, 48, reposted the video on Sunday, saying: "I'm literally lol'ing. @brianglenntv dressed in drag for morning news in Dallas years ago reporting on an upcoming local theatre production and the morons over at Patriot Takes think this is an attack."

Too bad no climate scientist is aware that we live in a rotating galaxy. Why didn't anyone ever explain this to them during their scientific education?
She is responding to all the tornadoes. The fact that everything is spinning is what is causing the tornadoes. The carbon doesn't have anything to do with all the spinning. That's her point.

I first became aware that there were lots of Americans proud of their stupidity when the Shrub was president.
I remember the Amerkin rhodomontades against "pointy-headed intellectuals" in the 1950s--in support of Repugs and against teh 2-time Democratic nominee for Pres. Ad Stevenson.

Now Marjorie is very popular with other nutty people all over the country. She's been raising huge amounts of money, most of it from outside of Georgia. WTF man! I get that they hate liberals, but it's hard to understand why they want someone as nutty and ignorant as MTG to have such power. I guess she reminds them of their dear leader.
She's a cult personality, not unlike a religious guru that rakes in cash from followers. She is without a doubt the dumbest person ever to hold a seat in the U.S. House. Her followers are just as dumb. I witnessed it. I can understand her appeal in that district. Big mouth. Little brain.

I have seen dumber men in the House of Representatives. They blur together in my memory like an gray marshmallowy mass. MTM is more memorable, because she is a woman, and because she lacks humility or the capacity to be really embarrassed, rather like Donald J(esus) TRump.

Jamaal Bowman Speaks Out on Marjorie Taylor Greene Spat - The New York Times - May 19, 2023 - "Jamaal Bowman Finds His Voice. Some Republicans Don’t Like the Sound." - "The Democratic congressman has made a habit of brashly confronting Republicans like Marjorie Taylor Greene, often in public displays meant to attract attention."

To George Santos, “Have some dignity!”

To MTG, “Listen, no more QAnon, no more MAGA, no more debt ceiling nonsense!” He also said that she ought to try to save her party, and she retorted by saying that he ought to save his country. Save the party? Presumably from its tendencies toward fascism and bigotry and insanity.

Ursula Perano on Twitter: "Rep. Jamaal Bowman, who heckled George Santos mid Santos-gaggle moments ago, in a tiff with MTG outside the Capitol steps.
AOC comes up at the end: “She ain’t worth it bro” (vid link)" / Twitter

JB earlier confronted Rep. Thomas Massie R-KY about gun control.

MTG later held a press conference about this incident.
The approach also carries risks, especially for a Black man, some of which came into sharp relief on Thursday. That is when Ms. Greene, a combative Georgian with a history of spouting conspiracy theories and directly confronting her own political opponents, said that she had felt threatened by Mr. Bowman, even though video showed her smiling as they sparred.

Ms. Greene said that Mr. Bowman had called her a white supremacist, an insult she claimed was “equal to” someone “calling a person of color the N-word.”
It's not like JB called her a honky or a cracker.
She then said that the congressman’s “physical mannerisms are aggressive” and accused him of leading a “mob” targeting her when they both appeared outside a Manhattan courthouse where former President Donald J. Trump was being arraigned — an apparent reference to a crowd that consisted largely of members of the news media.

“I’m very concerned about Jamaal Bowman,” Ms. Greene said, “and he’s someone that people should watch.”
JB:
“There’s a history of this, from Mike Brown to Emmett Till to any Black man who is passionate, outspoken, intelligent trying to stand their ground being confronted with violence,” Mr. Bowman said. “Her words today were violent and might induce violence if they get into the wrong ears.”
The article then discussed how JB's style is a departure from that of such earlier black politicians as Barack Obama, who try to show that they are not threatening to white people.

MTG Says Calling Her a White Supremacist Is Like Calling a Black Person the N-Word
Marjorie Taylor Greene reminds Americans every day that she doesn’t have much concern for things like decency, democracy, or reality when going about her business in Congress. She instead plays the role of a conspiracy theorizing carnival barker, pushing hate and spewing lies to distract from how badly her party’s approach to governing — or lack thereof — is failing the United States.

She reminded Americans of all of this again on Thursday, holding a stunt press conference to announce that she is introducing articles of impeachment against President Biden. She gave no real reason, only vaguely describing Biden as “corrupt” and “a direct threat to our national security.”
The Recount on Twitter: "Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) introduces articles of impeachment against President Joe Biden.
Greene also introduced impeachment articles for DHS Sec. Alejandro Mayorkas, FBI Director Chris Wray, and D.C. U.S. Attorney Matthew Graves. (vid link)" / Twitter

Aaron Rupar on Twitter: "Marjorie Taylor Greene says that when people like Jamaal Bowman call her a white supremacist it's "like calling a person a color the n-word"
"His physical mannerisms are aggressive ... I feel threatened by him," Greene adds of Bowman(vid link)" / Twitter

What a snowflake. She also claimed that he was leading a "mob".

Then
Congressman Jamaal Bowman on Twitter: "Black men continue to be characterized as aggressive and threatening when we are passionate and outspoken.
They're not just using dogwhistles, they're using bullhorns. It's dangerous, but we must ALL continue to speak truth to power. (vid link)" / Twitter

"I never defended George Santos. No one should report that. That would be a lie." (vid link)" / Twitter

Guess who just bid $100K for McCarthy's used chapstick - POLITICO - "The fundraiser, which Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) won with a $100,000 bid, is set to benefit Republicans’ campaign arm."

Olivia Beavers on Twitter: "NEW: ..."/ Twitter
NEW: During GOP conference today, House Rs did about a 15-min fundraising auction for chapstick used by Speaker McCarthy.

The winner: Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), whose winning bid was $100,000, her Spox confirms to me.

Others bid on it as well, but MTG ultimately won: And as bidding went on, McCarthy would sweeten the deal, throwing in agreeing to attend a dinner with donors/supporters for whoever wins, Spox confirmed.

The chapstick specifically was a Rep. Aaron Bean campaign chapstick.

The chapstick!

Told the flavor is cherry!
With a picture of MTG with AB and that chapstick tube.

With responses

Ilhan Omar on Twitter: "They doing this insane chapstick shit while the country teeters on default.
Wild." / Twitter

Rep. Nydia Velazquez on Twitter: "Spending $100,000 on chapstick while working overtime to gut the programs that working families rely on.
GOP priorities in a nutshell." / Twitter

:ROFLMAO: That part is too funny. Images of people like Louis Farrakhan, Malcom X, Huey P. Newton & Angela Davis yelling to the point of saliva flying from their mouths beg to differ.

None of them were elected leaders, however. To get an idea of when they were most active, I looked for their birthdates.

Louis Farrakhan - May 11, 1933 --- Malcolm X - May 19, 1925 to February 21, 1965 --- Huey P. Newton - February 17, 1942 to August 22, 1989 --- Angela Davis - January 26, 1944

They were mostly active over the late 1950's to early 1970's, and there were plenty of black militants over the second half of that period.

But they were activists and not elected officials.
