The Wall

I was wondering. Isn't This the ultimate in hypocrisy! Why are so many Hollywood liberals opposed to the wall when many of them have 'walls' around their homes. Isn't this a double standard?

They are building the walls around their own homes. They own their homes. Trump doesn't own the land in Texas. It's not his. He has no right to steal someone's land, separate them from a river all for a political stunt.

Political stunt? It was part of his manifesto and policy of his Presidential election bid. People voted for this policy among others!

No, they voted for a wall which Mexico would pay for. Nobody voted to build a wall that was paid for with US taxpayer dollars. This is Trump breaking a campaign promise, not his keeping a campaign promise.

Don't worry, no matter how this eventually shakes out, by November 2020 FFvC will be claiming both that he built the entire wall, and that Mexico paid for it.

...and will be cheered for it.

His campaign was nothing but one stunt after another.

One racist appeal after another.

He conned a bunch of angry white people blaming people of color for their problems when their problems are cause by rich assholes like Trump.

Do you honestly think that it's fine to steal someone's land to satisfy someone's political policy? Honestly? What kind of a conservative are you? Do you think it's okay if someone from the extreme left win's an election on the platform of wanting to help the poor? Then he takes everyone's company and gives it to the masses. Would that be okay with you? How far should we go into allowing politicians into fulfilling their manifesto and policy? I'm stunned that this doesn't bother you...

Property rights? Shit, the Trumpanzees don't care that Trump and Jeff ordered the construction of detention compounds for tots.

Yea, but those tots were south American kids. The republicans want to steal white people's land on the border. These people are good stock. These people are like people from Norway, good solid folks.

Being from Norway and all, they should be well aware of the sacrifices required of citizens to support a government's SOCIALIST agenda, right?

Oh, wait... never mind!

North American. Honduras is in North America. Or Central America if you prefer, but definitely not South.

.. on the condition that Mexico is paying for it. We didn't vote to pay for the wall out of our own pockets, or by putting the country into debt, or by stealing it from our military that is actually fighting actual fights.

The usual shakiness of geographical knowledge when it comes to those who make xenophobic statements is not surprising, but it does make one wonder whether such sentiments are a reasonable ground for the formation of real policies. People who live nowhere near the border in question form some very strange ideas about it, let alone points further south and west from it.

Even if it were hypocrisy, it would not be "the ultimate in hypocrisy". There are a lot more examples of hypocrisy that are much greater than that. Most of it on the right wing.

If you believe that hypocrisy resides only on the right, you really ought to expand your horizons a little!

Guys! I was obviously imitating a Trump supporter! But to answer your question, of course that much of this debate over the wall is about keeping brown people out of the US. Illegal crossing from Canada is up. And yet there is no discussion of building a Canadian wall.

White people good. Brown people bad. Wall good. Keep out Brown.

So what's your point? Most apples are red, therefore Granny Smith is a liar?
