Yeah he was a dick. I hate guns and I don't hunt. I only said it wasn't funny. This buffalo kills up to 200 people per year and is more dangerous than virtually any other animal in Africa. It kills a shit ton of hunters. This kind of big money expedition comes with risks that all are aware of. It's part of the thrill. This is not exactly unusual or as ironic as it appears. I just don't find stories of people getting killed particularly funny. My father was a hunter and I don't think I'd have laughed if I'd heard he'd been killed.

Look, ideologically I'm mostly in agreement with the sentiment here. I just don't think these stories are FUNNY. If the buffalo had been carrying a rifle, now THAT would be funny; if it had bored the guy in the ass and tossed him twenty feet, THAT would be funny. But with these admittedly asinine big game hunts, what happened to this dude is not exactly novel or ironic. Irony is the key to humor. When you go after a dangerous animal like that, the chance of being killed by it is acknowledged, and is part of the excitement for these silly alpha types.
Not to mention he left a mother, brother, ex-wife, and 16 year old daughter. Other people are involved. I don't feel like laughing at their expense.
I just don't think it's FUNNY, but that's just me.
